"Coming Soon, to a theater near you..."

    snote.png
It's only a matter of time before Snote's magnificent snout outgrows the Cantina and hits it big.

Imagine your favorite comic has just been green-lit for production and is on its way to the big screen... which actors do you want to see portray the characters of the Old Republic Paint Adventures??

I know several roles have already been discussed in the main thread and it may be hard to imagine anyone other than Hugo Weaving as Grand Admiral Snote, for example, but the fun of this is that the possibilities are endless!

Discuss your favorite fan-casting choices here!

I'm going to start with the "the big 3"...

    cover-02.JPG

Doop Skychafer, Darth Saber, and Missth'raw'nuruodo a.k.a. Missy

    actor-trio.jpg

being played by Richard Madden, Nicholas Hoult, and Emily Blunt

    Doop
    - Richard Madden. I don't know... Maybe? I'm still working out the details of why Richard Madden works. And yeah, there is certainly some GoT bias here. But, I think he's got the right face, young enough, but he doesn't necessarily have the gruff -- er, grump -- that is needed to really bring out Doop's full personality. However, I do think (in the few roles I've seen Madden in) he really has shown he can display a strong resillience to what others think is best for him versus what he thinks is best for him. He has that rebellious, some what selfish attitude. And there is a certain melancholy air about him that I think Doop also exhibits. Finally, and this is all speculation as for Doop's future/fate, I see in Madden a willingness (and yet a reluctance) to sacrifice himself for others. All in all, to me Doop is a big, complicated ball of "how does all this work together??" and I see Richard Madden as the guy to pull it off.

Saber - Nicholas Hoult. This is a tough one, and this is one in particular where I am really excited to see who everyone chooses for this role. I think I first saw Hoult in X-Men: First Class, but it wasn't until Warm Bodies that I really got to see him shine as an actor. And with his recent role in Mad Max: Fury Road, I really see Hoult excelling as Darth Saber. He has passion, humor, he's a bit awkward, and what sells it for me is the facial expressions. And he's no stranger to prosthetics / heavy make-up which surely would be necessary for the role of Saber. This one kind of jumped out at me from nowhere, but once I started to think about it the more and more I liked it.

Missy - Emily Blunt. I'm admittedly going with a prejudiced choice here because I absolutely love Emily Blunt. I know Al will fight me a bit on this (but thats why we're here!), but I think she would be absolutely perfect for the role. Although she may be a tad too old for Missy's character, I don't think it would be distracting to the point of immersion breaking. And with the makeup, any "age factors" can practically be erased as needed. I don't have much else to say other than I think Emily Blunt is brilliant in every way, and in my "head-canon" she already IS Missy.

First off, this is an absolutely brilliant idea for a thread @DarthSnow! ^^
Especially while we wait for Al's wild purple ride.

Continuing your "big three", I think whoever said Ezra Miller (@skychafer?) would make a good Doop was on the money, IMHO. He's got the smooth confidence for the role that he has shown from his role as The Flash and he can show Doop's darker side and cold anger vibes by tapping into his "We Need to Talk About Kevin" performance. The thing about Doop is that I don't think anyone but Al knows what his endgame is (or even who Doop actually is).

He could very likely pass as a 22y old and he has that "Byronic protagonist look" which Doop seems to personify (as a matter of fact it is because of this I find him subconsciously similar to Kylo Ren). Most importantly however... he has THE CHIN™.

Soo... Ezra Miller as Doop Skychafer for me!
What a choice, what a lovely choice!

I must admit I had my own ideas on who to cast here but Nicholas Hoult completely caught me by surprise! Actually, I'm just gonna remain silent as a Disciple here because anything I had in mind was just completely inferior to this. This pick just "clicked". Totally inspired choice.

For argument's sake, the most important piece of casting Saber is finding someone who knows how to do an expressive performance that can shine through the prosthetics, can play both bold/heroic and awkward, wallflower roles and has the right voice for Saber.
Al would fight you on this? I sense a story. :D

Emily Blunt has the accent down 100%. If age is the problem though, I think I have a very ironic substitute I know you would approve of, Lord Snow.

Rose Leslie. I know we all associate her with a certain wildling girl with a thick accent, but if you ever heard Rose in an interview you'll notice she has a really posh, really upperclass British accent. She has also (quite literally) lived Missy's life and would be able to add all those mannerisms and quirks to her performance. This would also mean that she got to play the iconic redhead role for both a fantasy and space fantasy franchise.

Bonus round: Snote. I think Hugo Weaving is nigh untouchable in this role and I read every Snote line in his voice but I also know he said he hated doing the prosthetics work on Captain America so getting himself painted in blue and wearing red contact lenses might not be his cup of tea.

The only viable alternative I can see is Liam Cunningham (also from GoT I guess). A fact that we now know is that Snote shows genuine compassion underneath all that plotting and pokerface shell. This Davos scene during my annual rewatch was what kinda introduced me to the idea:

JUN BLAND: Colin Morgan (the yellow version, obviously)

    STEVE: Sean Connery (middle aged)

    RATCHET: Jewel Staite

THE APPRENTICE/CAYDEN/ACCIDENTAL MCAVOY: Eugene Simon (were you expecting someone else, perhaps?)

SUPER SECRET ORPA ENDGAME VILLAIN: Timothy Dalton

    Additionals/obvious actor is obvious:

BT-0X: Sean Bean (we'll never forget you, BT-0X)

Not a fan cast per se, but I've always imagined Martin Sheen as Yen-Zur's voice.

    Rather Dashing: @GingerByte

General Fux: A very specific Weasley with no facial hair will do

I'm not including all the extremely obvious ones, but all in all an ORPA cast would end up more meme-worthy than even the prequels.

I'm gonna have to look him up, but by the picture alone, yes!!

Oh man, that would be so cool. Totally can see that.

That probably never would have crossed my mind, but, hell yes. He doesn't even need a new costume, just throw a belt and a saber on his rags from GoT!

Oh, I know. In all honesty I wasn't going to find someone other than EM, but I was trying to think a little more out of the box. I need to see Ezra in action, but by the looks of him alone you guys are right, he is by and far the frontrunner!

It did me too!! I still wanna hear your ideas though!

And besides, I'm probably going to end up posting like 5 different actors for each role, as new ideas come to me. :D

Ohhh, my heart! That really makes a lot of sense tho! I didn't that much about her background. Dammit, now Rose and Emily are going to be saying Missy's lines in my head simultaneously... I wonder who would win that fight... oh no what have you done to me...

Ooooo, nice choice! I think that would be a great role for him. He has the intimidating look, but like you mentioned theres a lot of compassion to him as well. I like it!!

Soooo basically, with this first batch of suggestions, once GoT is done filming let's just round all of them up and get an ORPA script together and we're good to go!

For so few panels we spent with Cayden, he sure seems to have left a strong impression on us.
Mark my words: he is gonna be a household name before we're done with the comic. :D

I think his voice should be "gruffier" than Lancel's though, but that's just me.

I would like to put forward Kevin Spacey as Steve.

He can bring a lot of gravitas to the role of Saber's father figure especially if we see a lot of interaction from the 2 of them in the future. Just the thought of seeing those scenes play out in cinema is salivating.
Now you're just taking the piss!

    Please! It's called Csilla. [IMG]

(this is the most blue Leslie I could find)
I like this one as well, I agree. Admittedly, I may also miss aspects of Steve's character that are more obvious to followers of the original series.
    Perhaps...

    Perhaps not...

We need to bring @madarabg on board to bless us with some quick photoshops!!
He was like this mildly creepy uncle that no one liked (except us ofc). Good to the absolute extreme, but unlike Saber he was much more zealous and not as self aware about himself as his pupil is. 'Blind convinction' is the phrase that defines Steve best but I get a hunch that he's grown since then. Doop's latest vision hints that he's at least remorseful.

Spacey could pull off the zealous part pretty damn convincingly and his HoC silky southern accent would be interesting for a Sith character.

Ohh, I know! Let's cast Timothy Dalton, an actor known for his face and distinctive theater voice, into the PERFECT Star Wars role for him!

Timothy Dalton should totally be one of the Disciples of Silence! It's just so logical!
I don't know how buff Saber is actually supposed to be... but I think Channing Tatum has the nose/eyes/eyebrows combo that resembles Saber down a lot. Put him in prosthetics and it can be a match.

Although his face may be too wide, idk. The character is supposed to be ~30y old so we probably have the most freedom in picking an actor for Saber.

And now to read the update! ^^

    Grand Admiral Snote:

Jemaine Clement. Not only does he have presence, his buttery smooth voice soothes peoples' hearts. People tend to forget Snote is a man of many passions who delivers surprisingly heartfelt speeches and memoirs.

    Darth Saber:

Matt Smith. He has proven himself capable of playing a dysfunctional but "secretly" brilliant character. Despite proving himself to be a complete and utter hindrance most of the time, every now and again he demonstrates true courage and intellect worthy of his title.

    Rather Dashing:

    Alex_Selfie.png

Thanks alot for fan casting me @Dork Lord of the Bith. Now I'll never meet expectations xD. But that's one of my less ginger pictures so I get the last laugh! You'll never see my true ginger photos, hahahaha ;D.

Since CH16, I have been reading Cancerous' lines in Robert De Niro's voice. He's far too old now for the role, but man what could have been...

Him and Ezra Miller as Doop would have been a comedic powerhouse in their Nar Shaddaa palace scenes together.
That's a great point for Snote, @GingerByte! He is a romantic mastermind, which is why I find him so goddamn interesting. However, I think I would rather (dashingly) like to see Jemaine do Galt:

He is also a character that seems cold on the outside but has a secret warmer side to him.
+ This would actually give him a role where he can use his natural accent.
Guy looks vaguely lobsterish. I can see it happening. His voice is also a perfect fit in my opinion ~ maybe the closest out of all the actors here to how I imagine Saber sounds like.
THAT WAS A TOTAL EYE CANDY VOTE AND YOU KNOW IT!

What a choice!! I really love this one. Also, I am a big fan of seeing bigger actors play lesser roles. Even tho Cancerous might be playing second fiddle to Doop and company, he does eventually get his time to shine. And man would De Niro make that shine...

I really like this one too! and I agree with the voice assessment, @Spacebeast48 . Though admittedly I have really been struggling with what exactly Saber sounds like. I think I'm leaning toward something deeper...

Ahhh my boy! Say what you want about Channing, I think he is a pretty talented actor. I would really enjoy this one actually :D

@DarthSnow, I just saw the trailer for The Current War and Nicholas Hoult plays Tesla in it. He was only in there for a few seconds but seems to have a really magnetic presence on screen. Somehow this changes my vote to Hoult for Saber.

Should we make a poll or something when we get a couple of more actors and then vote for each role? I also really want to know which actors could play Cayden outside the obvious James McAvoy and @Dork Lord of the Bith's Eugene Simon suggestion.
