Those "lead" droids would look a bit odd in live action imp .

Haha, that is true. I wish the B2's didn't get mowed down as easily in ROTS though.

The battle droid design was ridiculously nonthreatening. The destroyer design was much better. They could rapidly move from place to place and they had shields that posed a challenge to the Jedi.

My favorite droid design will always be HK-47

I liked the B1 battle droids from Republic Commando the best.

Those glowing eyes emerging from the darkness, revealing the shadow-dwelling monochrome technological monsters. They're almost menacing in a way.

I always thought that the Droideka had the coolest design, something imposing and insectile about them, plus the rolling feature is pretty sweet.

I also liked the flying Super Battle Droids from The Clone Wars.

I haven't played that game in over a decade but did the droid do nothing but grapple or did it shoot as well ?

Within the limits of the poll, the Droideka.
Within the limits of the prequel trilogy itself (just battle droids from The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, and Revenge of the Sith), it might have to be the Vulture Droid Starfighter. I love how it can go from a flight mode to a walker mode.
Within the limits of battle droids used in the prequel era (the time period between The Phantom Menace and Revenge of the Sith, which includes Star Wars: The Clone Wars), it would actually be the Droid Commandos. I just think they are very cool.

I like the design of the B1, but how they are presented just puts me off. For starters, the first time we see them in action shows how they are simply not a match for our heroes. As much as we make fun of Stormtrooper accuracy, at least their first engagement we see them in was a one sided victory. And second, they devolved into comic relief, which sucks what little tension was left out.

It's not The Attack of the Clones, just Attack of the Clones. Just a minor pet peeve of mine (a major pet peeve is people misspelling Anakin as "Anikin").

It just grapples, but that doesn't make it any less dangerous. If anything, they are scarier to fight than their standard B2 counterparts.

The destroyer droid seams the most effective. It's the only one that even Jedi run from.

Thinking of these droids brings back memories of Republic Commando and dreading the Super Battle Droids. They were bullet sponges, I felt like you could burn through your entire ammo trying to defeat one, and they usually came in pairs.

The droideka for sure! Although, I don't like the way they transform in both the 2D and 3D Clone Wars. It's too fast and less intimidating. Not to mention thier legs...

I actually need to amend an earlier statement. While within the confines of the poll, the Droideka is still my favorite, but I was wrong about the Vulture and Commando droids. My favorite droid used by the Separatists is the buzz droid.

I don't know how I forgot about this as it actually is one of my favorite things in Star Wars. I love the concept, I love the design, and it just give me character ideas, like someone using a reprogrammed one as a mechanic in the years following the Clone Wars. It's a cool droid.

It's actually an upgrade over the Z-95 Headhunters. The idea of the split X Formation was tested out on the ARC-170, and the Tie Fighter cockpit on the front of the Eta-2 Jedi Starfighter was the precursor to the actual TIE line. It seems to be a "limited" X-Wing, in the sense that canonically speaking, it was at the least a two-man starship with a bit more firepower than the T-65 X-Wing, which could have three, but it wasn't able to function with just one pilot.

Z-95's are actually in the Clone Wars. We see in the early part of the war the V-19 Torrent fighter the clones used, and the Delta-7B Aethersprite starfighter used by the Jedi. Midway through the war, the Z-95's began to take over, and by the end the Jedi used the new Eta-2 Starfighter and the Clones were transitioning from the Z-95's to the ARC-170's.

As for the battle droids, in interviews, the Clone Phase 1 Trooper Armor and the B1 and B2 Battle droids were based stylistically off the 1920's science fiction era. So Episode 3 was bridging to the 70's style, so it was never clearly stated to be around the 50's and 60's in terms of inspiration, but does derive heavily from that era, and most of WWII.
