There are anthology books from canon I can recommend:
    • Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi Canto Bight- basically like Tales from the Cantina
    • From a Certain Point of View- key events in the Saga through the eyes of minor characters
    • Journey to Star Wars: The Last Jedi: The Legends of Luke Skywalker- a book detailing Luke's wanderings throughout the galaxy
    • Star Wars: Myths and Fables- self explanatory, key events and encounters written in the style of folk takes and stories
    • Star Wars the Force Awakens: Tales from a Galaxy Far, Far Away v1 Aliens- been a while since I last read this so I cannot immediately recall its quality

I recall there being a graphic novel about the bounty hunter Aurra Sing that I enjoyed so I think I will go with that.

Same! I love that book. I also REALLY like the Thrawn trilogy.

A friend and I decided to read the EU recently. We are doing every book, together. We started off with the Thrawn trilogy and are on book 2. So much goodness that I had forgotten.

I haven't taken much notice of the EU but I did love this, an amazing story with our OT heroes, set between TESB and ROTJ.

Book, comic and of course game.

Off the top of my head...
Favorite book: Probably Heir to the Empire. (although Darth Bane: Path of Destruction and Darth Plageus were really good too)

Favorite Comic: I have a soft spot for Dark Empire, since I read it when I was a kid. I also loved the Star Wars Tales series by Dark Horse.

Favorite Game: (#1) Kotor 1+2 for best plot, characters, world-building, and player choice. (#2) Jedi Knight series for best gameplay and adaptation of post-Endor era in a video game. (#3) Battlefront 2 2005 for the best boots-on-the-ground star wars experience. (#4) Jedi: Fallen Order also did a great job introducing a Dark Souls-style combat system to the star wars universe (whoops! I just remembered that Fallen Order and Battlefront 2 are canon, oh well...). (#5) Star Wars republic commando for excellent squad-based combat. (#6) Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds for giving us a star wars RTS from the creators of age of empires 2 (need I say more?!) (#7) Star Wars: Empire at War FOC for best space RTS.

My new favorite comic is Heir to the Empire which skyrocketed in value after Thrawn was mentioned in Mandalorian

Too many books in the series for me, I'm afraid. I read so Whills darned slowly that it would take me a decade to get through the first 12  But I'll take your word for it :D

Its ridiculous. Just by Ahsoka mentioning Thrawn, Mint copies of Heir to the Empire start selling for 2,000$usd.
Another surprise, Vader #3 (Debut of Aphra) also rose up. Mints are selling around 500$

KOTOR 1 & 2 for video games. I had more fun with 1 but I think 2 is the better game (with or without the mod).

The Republic Comic Book Series is what I believe to be the pinnacle of the literary side of Star Wars legends. It was The Clone Wars before The Clone Wars show, it is cleverly written and is a must read for any Star Wars fan.

Path of Destruction for the novels. The obvious star of the Darth Bane trilogy and I would prefer a live-action tv show of the trilogy at this point. I could also add the sequels too for this answer.

Man, where to begin... as a kid, I started with the Thrawn Trilogy in 90s. While I liked the continuation as it was Star Wars, I wasn't able to fully appreciate a blue skinned imperial admiral in place of Vader and Palpatine and never was much of a fan of Mara Jade, somehow she never fitted into the SW for me. But I was intrigued by the Noghri and Republic past the OT, Feilya's machinations, Thrawn's strategies, Ysalamiri being able to negate force, clone troopers...
As I was older, I could've fully appreciate the genius of Thrawn...
I did enjoy Zahn's new prequel trilogy about him, while not as good as the original outing, pretty solid addition to the new canon... The another prequel trilogy from the Chiss space, I have it, but I have stopped in the first book. While it's interesting take on the Chiss, their civilization based on Roman was kinda off putting for me. While it makes sense and as a plus, I am huge history fan (my fav books here that I would recommend to everyone are from Tom Holland), it was super hard to make sense in all those names and how they work, with these intermissions, that made the book hard to read for me and I am not that interested in getting that detailed grasp of fictional history and fictional anything. Same way I won't be learning Elvish nor I was ever learning to read Aurabesh. So, Heir Of The Empire etc.

The second is a holy grail of mine – as a kid, there was lot of SW in the 90s and I was collecting Micro Machines. I was super intrigued by Shadows Of The Empire. Prince Xizor and his starfighter (which I later got for X-Wing miniatures as well, before I sold all of it) were super cool to me and mysterious. I had no idea, who these characters were and they had small bios at the back of the boxes (If I remember right, two strafighters, three characters) plus there was Vader, Palpatine and Return Of The Jedi Luke with his SOTE clothing. I found out much later that it's a multimedia project with game, book and OST. I have read the book like 12 years ago finally, got the comic and I have enjoyed it a lot! I would say that it's probably that SW book that holds special place in my heart.

From comic books, I have quite enjoyed the Dark Empire (looked it up after playing that mission with E-Wings in Rogue Squadron) and my most favorite on high school was The Clone Wars series from Dark Horse. It was pretty much The Clone Wars we've got animated later, filling up the space from Ep. 2 to 3.
Ventress, Quinlan Voss, Sharat Hett (sorry if I mispell some names from memory, that Tusken Jedi) and the whole story about Anakin wiping out the Sand People and working together with Tusken Jedi. It sounds little farfetched, but I have loved that concept.

If you would ask me nowadays, what's my favorite, it's definitely The High Republic. I have enjoyed Phase I a lot, still in the middle of reading the last young adult side story. Big fan of Reath Silas and Elzar Mann. I will probably skip the Phase II and will return for the conclusing in third phase :)
