What is your favorite Lightsaber color and crystal?

For myself I have always been partial to Green for Jedi and Red for the Sith. When Knights of the Old Republic came out, I fell in love with Bastila Shan’s yellow staff-saber.

At present my favorite color is yellow which is used by the legendary Ulic Qel-Droma, Bastila Shan, and Jedi Temple Knights in TCW:

So which is your favorite? Can’t choose only one? Then share your favorites.

During the Mandalorian Wars, a group of Jedi abandoned Revan and his Jedi Knights who were fighting against The Mandalorians to form a clan of Mando Jedi Warriors called the Mando Knights. They essentially became terrorists, and attacked the Republic, claiming it was corrupt and that the Mando Way was the answer:

“But why expect better from the Republic? That fool Captain Morvis is exactly who they are—no judgment, all ambition! At least Mandalorians believe in something, Zayne. Yes, they can be indiscriminate and brutal, but with our guidance. They can change. The Republic can't. We're on the wrong side!” -DORJANDER KACE TO ZAYNE CARRICK

    They wielded orange lightsabers:

Like my avatar latterly(!), I kind of waver between blue and green as my favourite lightsaber colour...

They all have their merits. I feel like green sabers perhaps indicate a higher level of achievement, at least for the major characters we have seen with them in the movies. I think of Qui-Gon, ROTJ Luke, Yoda, and TLJ Luke at the end of the movie... all green. To me it signifies life (“life creates it, makes it grow”). It feels like the natural colour for a Jedi truly in tune with the Force, at least for the potential of the individual wielder.

Blue feels more like it’s about the learner. Young Obi-Wan, Anakin, Luke. It reminds me of water, signifying birth and new life, youth perhaps.

Mace Windu’s purple is interesting, and I love the stuff they made up for that in-universe (his fighting style ‘Vapaad’ / form VII, etc) and how I think it ties into the saga storyline thematically... the idea that as powerful as he was, he was the one who ended up being present as Anakin was forced to choose between the Jedi and Sith and he was manipulated into making the choice he did... could something as subtle as the purple lightsaber, a colour that is really half-way between Jedi blue and Sith red have played a part, no matter how small, in his decision? Was it one of the straws upon the camel’s back, even if not the final one? Either way, I think it’s interesting we see Mace and his pirple lightsaber in that scene especially.

And of course the Sith usually have red sabers... which look amazing on film. And perfectly suit the bad guys.

But yeah... I’ll vote green overall I think.

@Porco Azzurro Great insights! This is the kind of discussion I was hoping to create with this thread.,:)

For myself, I choose yellow because it is the most recognized spectrum of light itself: i.e. sunlight, candlelight, fire, and etc. originally Yoda was gonna have a yellow lightsaber to identify that he is the strongest Light Sider. Later in Knights of the Old Republic the color became the symbol of the Jedi Sentinel:

For me Green represents the Jedi Consular, those who concentrate on The Force and less on policing the galaxy as peacekeepers (Guardians, blue bladed lightsabers) of the Republic. But Porco I like your symbolism of green being life oppose to death (dark side).

Mace Windu’s purple lightsaber to me proved there are Jedi on the edge of the Dark Side, as Vapaad is an offical Sith lightsaber form (Book of Sith). Windu wanting to destroy Palpatine makes me wonder if he was a Sith Infiltrator, because Windu seemed way to willing to give into fear “he has control of the courts! He’s to dangerious to be left alive!” In fact Windu was gonna do what Anakin did to Dooku at Palpatine’s behest at the beginning of ROTS.

I think for sure Windu was compromised, not at the level of Dooku, but enough that even his lightsaber color betrayed the mingling of Jedi and Sith rays.

I suppose, for me, it would have to be blue. But Lucas demanding that only blue, green and red be used (save for the exception of Mace) was pretty goofy. At the same time, I do get it that the red should be for bad guys. Then having the Jedi using the rest of the primary colors would just throw the sith only using red into sharp relief. Would make it cooler, somehow.

While I am a Jedi, I have always had an affection for red bladed lightsabers:

I find the Sith saber is the most striking color in a duel. The variations of the blood red to ruby of Darth Vader’s saber to Dooku and beyond is most beautiful:

Sith sabers are menacing and contain the aggressive nature of their wielders. I found the new canon of bleeding a kyber crysfal with the power of the Dark Side intriguing. Originally it was the Sith used synthetic crystals and that was why they were red.

I am thrilled my favorite Lightsaber color, yellow, has became canon in the Clone Wars Series:

I myself am just getting familiar with this unique black bladed lightsaber.
