Favorite Lightsaber Color?

Like my avatar latterly(!), I kind of waver between blue and green as my favourite lightsaber colour...

They all have their merits. I feel like green sabers perhaps indicate a higher level of achievement, at least for the major characters we have seen with them in the movies. I think of Qui-Gon, ROTJ Luke, Yoda, and TLJ Luke at the end of the movie... all green. To me it signifies life (“life creates it, makes it grow”). It feels like the natural colour for a Jedi truly in tune with the Force, at least for the potential of the individual wielder.

Blue feels more like it’s about the learner. Young Obi-Wan, Anakin, Luke. It reminds me of water, signifying birth and new life, youth perhaps.

Mace Windu’s purple is interesting, and I love the stuff they made up for that in-universe (his fighting style ‘Vapaad’ / form VII, etc) and how I think it ties into the saga storyline thematically... the idea that as powerful as he was, he was the one who ended up being present as Anakin was forced to choose between the Jedi and Sith and he was manipulated into making the choice he did... could something as subtle as the purple lightsaber, a colour that is really half-way between Jedi blue and Sith red have played a part, no matter how small, in his decision? Was it one of the straws upon the camel’s back, even if not the final one? Either way, I think it’s interesting we see Mace and his pirple lightsaber in that scene especially.

And of course the Sith usually have red sabers... which look amazing on film. And perfectly suit the bad guys.

But yeah... I’ll vote green overall I think.

 

I suppose, for me, it would have to be blue. But Lucas demanding that only blue, green and red be used (save for the exception of Mace) was pretty goofy. At the same time, I do get it that the red should be for bad guys. Then having the Jedi using the rest of the primary colors would just throw the sith only using red into sharp relief. Would make it cooler, somehow.

Lots of cool stuff there, and it's unique enough to be interesting.

Otherwise, I really enjoy blue and red. Not at all crazy about green, despite the fact that the DSII fight is one of my all time favorites.

 

My favourite colour is red so naturally i would have to pick red. I also tend to find sith a bit cooler than jedi as well and my favourite character in the entire franchise is malgus who uses red. My second favourite and my favourite colour for jedi is green. I have fond memories of watching return of the jedi when i was a kid and I've always loved Luke's green saber. Yellow is badass too with the temple guards. I like all of the colours but my favourite is definitely red closely followed by green for jedi .

 

I never cared that much about lightsaber color, in KotOR games I would generally go with blue or green. The only color that really stood out to me was the black lightsaber from Force Unleashed. Once I got it that's all I ever used in the game, even though I'm not a Dark Side player. It just looked cool and because of the white glow usually looked more white than black.

 

I love the dark Blood red lightsabers you can get in SWTOR.

I had to say green just for the sake of TROTJ with Luke’s all black robes and they glistening green saber ! It was just such a powerful look !
