Wow, it's hard for me to make a list of favorite movies because over the decades I've seen so, so many. Going year by year back to '77, my favorite movies are:

1977: Star Wars, A New Hope
    1978: Superman
1979: Star Trek, The Motion Picture
1980: Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back
1981: Raiders of The Lost Ark
1982: Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, but Blade Runner runs a close second
1983: Star Wars, Return of The Jedi
1984: Ghostbusters (Although Star Trek III was very good)
    1985: Back To The Future
1986: Aliens (Again, Star Trek IV came close)
    1987: Predator
    1988: Die Hard
    1989: Batman
1990: Tough year between Hunt For Red October, Goodfellas and Miller's Crossing. 'Crossing wins.
1991: Silence of The Lambs, narrowly beating Terminator II
1992: A Few Good Men, although Universal Soldier was fun. Van Damme's best movie, in my opinion
    1993: Demolition Man

I'll post part two at a later time when I'm not so sleepy.

There are a lot of movies I find *enjoyable*, but "favorite" is reserved for one movie in particular, and that's ALIEN (okay, and Aliens)! :D

Movies on my *enjoyable* list include (in no particular order):
    • Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke (and various other Ghibli titles)
    • Star Wars (most rewatched episode is Revenge of the Sith)
    • Labyrinth
    • Captain EO!!!!!!!!!!!!
    • Robin Hood: Men in Tights
    • Monty Python and the Holy Grail
That's off the top of my head. :D

My favorite films are pretty mainstream, but here are my top 10.
    1. The Empire Strikes Back
    2. A New Hope
    3. Return of the Jedi
    4. Raiders of the Lost Ark
    5. Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade
    6. The LEGO Movie
    7. Spider-Man 2
    8. The Last Jedi
    9. The Force Awakens
    10. Solo: A Star Wars Story

Honorable mention goes out to Metropolis, the oldest film I’ve ever seen. It’s something that no one ever really talks about, which is understandable considering it came out 93 years ago, but it inspired a lot of films that came after it, including Star Wars.

And for the hell of it, with it being the new year and all, here are my three favorite films of 2019.
    1. Spider-Man: Far From Home
    2. Marriage Story
    3. Avengers: Endgame

Oh, I just saw Marriage Story a few weeks ago and was so impressed by Adam Driver's acting. Not because he's in Star Wars. Haha. I don't watch movies too often and I had never seen him in anything except for Star Wars. After seeing Marriage Story, he's one of my new favorites. :D

Metropolis looks so interesting! I'll add it to my watch list!

If you want to watch Adam Driver act watch Paterson, a film by Jim Jarmusch about a man named Paterson in the town of Paterson who is a bus driver and poet.

@RoyleRancor I will definitely keep that in mind next time I have a movie night! Thank you! :D

Also, I forgot to add a VERY important movie to my list. One that's up there on the same level as Alien. And that is....John Carpenter's THE THING! Ahhh! How did I forget that one!

These days i cant stop thinking about Blade Runner and Blade Runner 2049.
A movie i was fascinated with last year was "There will be blood".Daniel Day-Lewis is unreal in this movie. I honestly don't know if i've ever seen such genius acting. He is the best actor ever.

I like all of the SW films to an extent, some more than others. My personal favourites are revenge of the sith, EBS and ROTJ. Outside of SW, some of my other favourite films in no particular order are:

    Halloween 1/2 and the remake
Friday the 13th - all of them
A nightmare on elm street - all of them
    Hellraiser 1/2
    Texas chainsaw massacre 1/2
    House of 1k corpses/devil's rejects
    The shining
    Silence of the lambs
    Alien 1/2/3
    The dark knight trilogy
    Goodfellas
    Godfather - all of them
    Scarface
    Pulp fiction

And although many people hate them, i can't help but love the scream and saw films. Being a horror fan and growing up in the 90s/early 00s probably helped with that.

And for christmas you can't beat home alone 1 and 2.

So hard for me to think of a "favorite" movie. Just trying to think of the movies I've seen so far this year. Bolding the ones I'd suggest to a friend.

Cats (my wife loved it, but I wouldn't do that to a friend)

Dragonheart (I remember seeing it as a kid, but didn't remember much of the plot)

Joker (I expected I'd hate this movie, given the weird culture around it, but... it was fine. It had some really neat scenes. Not a masterpiece by any means, but it exceeded my low expectations, and Joaquin did a great job)

Shazam (maybe my favorite DC movie so far?)

The Curse of La Llorona (terrible. absolutely terrible)

The Lighthouse (if you like Eggers, you might like this. It's definitely up my alley, but I'll admit it's niche. I'd recommend anyway)

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (It had its moments, but it just kinda felt like a nothing movie to me. It just felt... directionless. And that's fine, but it's not my thing)

Marriage Story (really good and really sad)

Jojo Rabbit (I expected to like Taika mockery of Hitler, and I did, but the show was really stolen by everyone else. Great, surprisingly deep film)

Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution (eh, it's a remake of the first Pokemon movie. I enjoyed it for the nostalgia, but when I have kids they're seeing the original)

I'm sure I've seen others, but I'm having trouble remember what they've been.
