    Lost stars, probably followed by the movie novelisation which was an enjoyable way of getting my fix after seeing the movie at the cinema!

    I didn't mind a new dawn either, it was my first 'EU' book and quite liked Vidian.

    Great thread, just finished The Weapon of a Jedi, it was pretty good. I will start on Lost Stars now. I was not super impressed with Aftermath, it was hard to read.

    Lost Stars and Twilight Company are definitely my favorites. Lost Stars was magnificent. Giving us alternative views of events throughout the OT was brilliant especially how people felt about the destruction Alderran.

    I loved Twilight Company as well because it was more of a gritty war story. It is always nice to mix up the formula. It also explains why Sullust is one of the maps in Battlefront. I don't even think the force is mentioned a single time but it was still brilliant. There is more to Star Wars than the force and the big three from the OT.

    Tarkin is my favorite followed by Lost Stars and Aftermath, though I liked Twilight Company and Lords of the Sith a lot as well.

    Can it be said that Lost Stars is the best New Canon novel so far? I can't wait for the next Claudia Gray, New Republic: Bloodlines.

    Lost Stars is hands down my favorite novel of the new canon, and frankly easily in my top five Star Wars novels period, including the Legends novels. There are a few books I haven't gotten my hands on yet, namely Lords of the Sith, Heir to the Jedi, Battlefront and Before the Awakening(on its way from Amazon right now). The ones I have read I have enjoyed though, some more than others of course, just like in the old EU.

    The only one that I didn't really care for was Aftermath, I really wanted to like that one, but it was tough to get through. I tried to convince myself that it was good, but reading Lost Stars only put things even more into focus as to how sub par Aftermath was.

    That being said, that's only one unenjoyable novel out of what I have read thus far, so at the moment the new canon material has a good batting average for this particular reader.

    Lost Stas is like emotionally tearing me apart by the fact that I have no idea
    if Ciena is going to jail or worse and not knowing if her and Thane will ever have to chance to be happy together.
    I seroiusly need like a support group right now. I just forced my find to read the book so I have someone to talk too. I need a sequel or short story to wrap it up.

    I think my favorite right now is Lost Stars because of a very well-done romance tied into the OT that I could not put down, but Tarkin is very close because of it's very interesting background on him. Those that say Hux is like Tarkin really need to read this book to understand this man is so very different! I liked Lords of the Sith and Heir to the Jedi as well, and even Aftermath was great for me, especially now that Temmin Wexley is a fighter pilot in TFA (Greg Grunberg's character), and Bones, a B1 battle Droid, is a crazed machine with programming to mimic General Grievous's fighting style, along with many others, which I found awesome!

    Here's my complete ranking of Star Wars novels which includes the junior novelizations...

    Yellow = Pretty Good
    Red = Mediocre
    White = Atrocious

    1. Lost Stars

    3. Lords of the Sith

    4. A New Hope: The Princess, the Scoundrel, and the Farm Boy
    5. The Force Awakens (by Alan Dean Foster)
    6. Tarkin
    7. Twilight Company

    8. The Force Awakens junior novel (by Michael Kogge)
    9. Servants of the Empire (all 4 books collectively)

    10. Moving Target
    11. Smuggler's Run
    12. The Weapon of a Jedi
    13. Before the Awakening

    14. Aftermath
    15. A New Dawn

    16. Heir to the Jedi

    Nice colorful way to rank the books ;)

    I'm getting Lords of the Sith tomorrow in the mail, looking forward to reading it. I considered ordering Heir to the Jedi, but everything I've read about it makes it seem mediocre at best and completely skippable as far as interesting additions to the canon go.

    Pretty much, I read it, and I don't regret it. But it's fairly bland.
