Interesting, I took it differently, I instead saw Tarkin as very cold and calculating in that moment(the kindness just being a front), the Empire needs plenty of recruits after all and I think Tarkin has many long term strategies for Imperial Recruitment.

Before I update my list on Page 2, I think my old thought, that Claudia Gray could be the new Timothy Zahn, is incorrect. Zahn brought importance to the years after ROTJ, but Gray's for all things Star Wars! This woman should be given charge of every major book in the canon. Bloodlines was PHENOMENAL!

Reading bloodlines and it is not so great yet. It is like the prequels, all about politics and political factions and maneuvers.

give it a chance ~ it does start out kind of heavy, but only so that it can pay it off big later on. it's a pretty great book!

Will do, the only book I just could not make it through was Lord of the Rings. It lost me with all the hobbit singing. I will make it with this one.

    Other: Bloodline

Honorable mention to Lost Stars, The Force Awakens, and Aftermath.

Bloodline had what Episode VII was missing a touch of, an explanation and exploration of the political situation in the galaxy. It gave excellent insight into Leia's arc leading into Episode VII. I look forward to other books detailing Luke's story, to say nothing of Ben and Snoke's. Hopefully Claudia Gray gets further opportunities in the Star Wars galaxy.

I thought the book spent to much time trying to introduce too many new characters and then quickly disposed of the two good ones.
