Favorite OT starfighter?

...hehehe... yep, me too.... that'a way on damn near Every level.

...so, now after I go through a lil' while with Rougue Squadron on N64...gonna hook up my PS2 an' play some original Battlefront 1 and 2.
Takes different pilotin' skill to play star fighter combat on that game... bit harder coz thems skills I ani't got, but play it anyways.

All these years later, and I only just noticed that Luke's X-Wing actually has an old radio cassette player from a car fitted on the dash...

 

I love Tie Fighters, but I don't know why. They're just cool.

 

Would have been cool to see that in use.
Maybe after blowing up the Death Star.

 

B-Wings are really cool... But I have to admit that I can't say why they are called B-wings, they aren't really shaped like a B!

 

The ship got its name from the fact that the crew labeled the two new starfighter models in ROTJ as "A fighter" and "B fighter".

 

Wow... I thought about something cool... Anyway, B-Wings are pretty awesome!

 

This is an incredible thread!! Great discussion by all.....as one of the more "elder" members here in the Cantina, just imagine being a 13 yr old kid, going to the movies for this movie called "Star Wars" (no number or title), in May 1977. Knowing NOTHING about Star Wars, there was no "canon"....no "legends"....no comics....no books. Just the amazing imagination of George Lucas on the screen.

The TIE attack on the Millenium Falcon was the first time we had EVER seen TIEs in action....totally blown away would not describe my reaction enough.

Then, the prep and assault on the Death Star....most probably my most favorite scene in all the movies. This was the FIRST time we had ever seen X/Y Wings. Absolutely incredibly totally blown away....breathless....sorry I just get carried away remembering that moment. I must have watched this scene HUNDREDS of times on Youtube.

Oh, you want me to vote on just ONE starfighter?????

 

TIE Interceptor FOR LIFE!

 

The X-Wing, but the TIE-Interceptor looks deadly.

 

Just some of my thoughts, in order from most to least favorite-

B-Wing- Awesome design, criminally under-featured

X-Wing- awesome, sleek design. Not quite my favorite, but it clearly deserves the prestige it has.

Y-Wing- I used to really hate this design, but it's definitely grown on me over time. As far as coloring goes, also probably the most interesting

TIE- Classic, good old fashioned dual ion engine, whining TIE

TIE Interceptor- Sleeker design. Still cool, but the original is just hard to beat

TIE Bomber- Not my favorite design, but certainly useful

TIE Advanced- I kinda dislike this design for a starfighter, especially a non-bomber one

A-Wing- I just really don't like these little guys. They look so... generic, especially compared to a lot of other Star Wars vehicles.

 

It's always been the X-wing, but a seriously close 2nd is the TIE Interceptor.

The X-wing, though. It's classic. And well designed. It combines the best of both worlds of the Y-wing and the A-wing, sturdy and well-built, but not too slow, an array of weapons, but still has solid shields.

The TIE Interceptor, is just a menacing design. So cool whenever it's used. And typically, it's the elite pilots that have survived a year or so and graduated from the TIE fighter that pilot them, so you know a TIE interceptor is going to be a challenge. Faster than an X-wing, and more maneuverable, in the right hands it's a terror. Good thing not too many imperial pilots survive to be hot hands with them.

 

Yeah imma go with the classic x-wing. I mean who doesn’t love the x-wing trench runs. They are too classic.
