What is everyone's favorite scene from the original trilogy. Mine is the carbonite scene, there is so much emotion not just between Han and Leia . But did anyone else notice Vader goes from being calm and collective to angry very quickly. I think this is when he realized he didn't just have a son but a daughter as well. As he picked up on Leia's strong feelings towards Han. "Calrissian bring the princess and the wookie to my ship" "I thought they would be left in the city under my supervision" Vader says the next line very pissed off"I am altering the deal pray I don't alter it any further "

Yeah that's always been an intriguing scene to me and possibly the most dramatic in the OT. I don't believe Vader was sensing that she was his daughter; I think he just felt the brunt of the emotional blow that he was dishing to his son's friends and was shielding himself in the dark side of the Force to deal with it. I think Leia sensed this and thus the look they exchanged with each other.

Maybe but why would he need Leia if he knew Luke was coming. I will have to watch it again and think about that. The only reason I thought it was strange is Vader doesn't seem to care about Solo at all when he is torturing him, the only time he gets mad is when he see's Leia sad. "also she looks just like Pademe in that scene lol

Vader wasn't so much as mad as he was anxious and impatient. He's dealing with a howling wookie, a Bounty Hunter all up his ear sweating him about their business deal, and a carbon freeze chamber that may or may not work properly. In those moments, all Vader is concerned about is getting his son in there and moving on.

Vader intentionally played Lando. Vader never intended to leave Leia and Chewie on Bespin. He was gonna imprison them and use Leia as an aid in Luke's dark side conversion process. Its also possible that he and/or Palpatine was gonna use her as a "bargaining chip" against the Alliance; basically to make them dial back their insurgency.

That's true , I just don't see Vader raising his voice like that very often, even when he is mad at the imperial officers he is very calm about killing them. But this is what I like about Star Wars seeing how others view things and getting to discuss all these cool scenes

I loved the carbon-freezing chamber scene, especially the lighting of the scene, but my favorite was Luke training on Dagobah. The hand stand, rock balancing, R2 levitating, X-wing sinking, "ahh, can not get your ship out" scene. This gave more insight to the force that you never had before. These scenes are why so many people love The Empire Strikes Back so much.

3 Fav scenes- 1. ANH: When Han gets frustrated with the situation and decides to refer to Ben as a 'fool', to which Ben quips back, "Who's more the fool? The fool or the fool that follows him?" 2. ROTJ: The throne room scene when Luke somewhat cockily proclaims to Palpatine that they'll both soon be dead, to which Palpatine smugly responds "...it is quite safe from your pitiful little band. An entire LEGION of my best troops awaits them." Almost total confidence deflation in Luke haha. 3. ROTJ: When Leia confesses to Han that Luke IS her brother. Its as if Han doesn't know what to do with himself now that its official that Luke isn't his competition lol.

Honorable Mention- 4. TESB: When Lando first sees Leia and greets her with "Helloooo...what do we have here!?!". Translation: "I'd do you- right here- right now if you'd like me to! The Falcon's landing ramp is just a few feet behind you... Han, you'd better claim it before I shame it." Hahaha pimp chit.

I don't have a favorite scene, but you nailed it -- this scene is probably the most powerful of all six movies.

    Until . . .

The throne room scene is really cool, Palpatine is so confident that he will never loose "Your over confidence is your weakness" .
Also "Damn fool I knew that you were gonna say that"

"My hands are dirty" "My hands are dirty too. What are you afraid of?"

That whole dialog, ending with the Threepio interuption if probably my favorite scene.

As a kid? Fav scene was the Sarlaac Fight in RotJ.

As an adult? When Luke sees Vader in Cloud City, and he says "The Force is with you, young Skywalker. But you are not a Jedi yet."

Honorable mention, the Battle of Yavin, when they attack the Death Star. Everything about that scene is suspenseful, well edited, and the musical score keeps me on the edge of my seat every time.

Both of these scenes are dope. If you're a fan of Fan-edited versions of these films, there's a guy named Adywan that edited ANH (and is currently finishing up ESB) and the Battle of Yavin is soooooo much more glorious in it. There are many more TIEs and X-Wings along with some splendid dogfighting that adds depth and visual fullness to the battle (it doesn't take away from GL's original work, trust me ;) ). I only watch this version of ANH now because they're simply superior and more enjoyable to me. My other favorite scene (in his version) is the duel between Obi-wan and Vader. Truly fantastic work.

My favorite scene is the end of New Hope when you think the Vader is about to destroy Luke until Han comes to the rescue. "You are all clear kid, now blow that thing and lets get out of here." I always want to get out of my chair and celebrate every time, which I do occasionally.

P.S. If I got the line from Han wrong, please write the correct dialogue. I haven't seen it lately because of work and I couldn't remember the exact words.

ROTJ, shortly after Vader kills the emperor, just before the Death Star is destroyed.

    Anakin/Vader: Now go my son.
Luke: I'll not leave you here. I've got to save you.
    Anakin/Vader: You already have, Luke.

    That scene is gold.

Maybe not my favourite scene but perhaps one that carries the most emotional significance in the overall story. When Vader and Luke meet in ROTJ at the stormtrooper base on Endor. Luke tries (and seemingly fails) to win his father over and is led away to meet the Emperor: 'Then my father is truly dead.'

Its Vader staring out the window at the end that kills me. That's when we first see a real glimpse of humanity when he begins to doubt himself.

(For my favourite scene altogether - has to be the trench assault in ANH. The music, the tension, Han saving the day!)
