9. Luke finding his aunt/uncle burnt by the Stormtroopers and then realizing his new destiny.

I will list 3 in no particular order

1) Carbonite Han Leia (what has already been said)...there is no other scene that packs away at raw human emotion and musical score that drives home the reality...this is the scene that makes Han the most important character (and most loved) in Star Wars hands down...Han's cool response of 'I know' is the perfect blend of cool/emotion that could be said in 2 words

2) Yoda talking with Obi Wan in Dagobah about Luke not being ready to train. We had never seen such a character before like Yoda who could be a puppet yet we loved so dearly...set up the 2nd most loved character in Star Wars (Han, Yoda, Vader)

3) Vader stopping the Emperor from destroying Luke (the love of a Father will stretch time, space, and hell itself to protect children) Tell your sister you were right!

 

Favorite seen. Cantina: Luke learns how to deal with school yard bullies. Han shows how to deal with professional bullies. Chewy shows how to say much while saying nothing... I wouldn't mess with the human in the vest.

 

Well, with the OT, I find it exceedingly difficult to pin it down to a favorite scene. That said, I would say the scene that was the most impactful to me was the lightsaber duel between Vader and Luke in ROTJ. Specifically, the second half in which Vader mentions Leia and Luke lashes out in a mixture of powerful emotions.

The emotion displayed with Luke haphazardly crashing his lightsaber every which way in order to lash out at Vader, mixed with the pretty unique portion of soundtrack in that scene, makes it one of the most memorable moments. And it's capped off with Luke's sudden realization that he's straying close to the dark side, stepping back from the edge by sheer willpower alone. I feel it speaks volumes for Luke, and shows how much he has evolved.

 

well here is my top 10

1) the binary sunset in anh. "The force theme" so power full I hope 2 see this in the cinema once more.

2) when luke blows up the death star 2 favorit qoutes "use the force luke" and "you are all clear kid, lets blow this ting and go home"

3) the rancor pit. nuff said.

4) the astoried field in esb

5) the opening in anh. the star destroyer goes on and on and on

6) when han and chewie chases a bunch of stormtroopers on the death star.

7) when han is frosen in carbonite. the music and the ugnaughts.

8) the final duel luke, darth vader and palpatine..... favorite qoute " sister....... so you have a twin sister"

9) I know it's a bit stupid but I realy love the sceen before Han Solo and the others get on shuttle tyderium.

10) speeder bike chase on endor. so cool

The opening scene from A New Hope. Saw it when I was ten years old. Princess Leah's ship flies overhead, trading blaster fire with an unseen pursuer. Then the nose of the Star Destroyer appears, and the ship just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Then the audience finally sees the back of the ship, and it's obvious that Leah's ship is out-sized as well as out-flanked, but wait! That's not the back of the Star Destroyer, that's just a hangar bay! And I'm watching in disbelief at the SIZE of this thing, as the back 2/3 of it slowly rolls overhead, wondering Holy crap, how big is this thing? Each second I'm waiting for the end of the ship to appear, but the dang thing just keeps growing and growing. Then the aft end finally makes its appearance, and the roar of the blue engine exhaust shakes the entire theater, and I've been a fanboy ever since.

Seriously, has there ever been a more arresting opening scene than that?

 

Hm... this may sound slightly uncreative, but I've always been a big fan of the final 60 seconds of Luke's duel against Vader in the Emperor's Throne Room, with Yoda moving the X-Wing being a close second.

 

If I had to pick ONE scene that defines Star Wars for me?

Han Solo flying out of the sun with a big ol' war whoop and shooting Vader off of Luke's tail.

 

Definitely Palpatine, Luke and Vader on the DS. I'm a fan of Palpatine's theme probably because of that too...except for the version of it that plays at the end of TPM.

 

Luke staring at the two setting suns on Tatooine in ANH is by far my favorite scene. The music, the emotion, the other-worldliness of the dual suns, and the idea that there are countless other worlds and wonders out there that we don't even know about. Powerful.

Any scene involving 3PO and R2 bickering back and forth. Ha. Scenes with Luke and Han fighting for Leia's attention only for Luke to find out he is Leia's brother, priceless.

 

The Throne Room scene in Return of the Jedi, more specifically, the part where Luke just starts hacking away at Vader and the music swells, ah the music... Greatest lightsaber fight in history.
