it was a superbly realised scene and i was 'choked' watching Vader being a genuinely scary opponent as he went full crazy on the rebels. my only slight criticism was the final shot of him from below, looking back up into the hangar after the Tantive IV had blasted away as it looked less like a man-in-a-suit actor and more like a shot from SW Battlefront.

I still can't get over that scene. I have read the Darth Vader comics series and Lords of the Sith, where there are several scenes showing his might as the Dark Lord of the Sith but seeing it onscreen is way way better.

Leia was the only attractive female alone on a ship surrounded by boys. Vader did the thing any good dad will do!

    MAKE WAY FOR DADDY! (vader)(red)

I mean, Star Wars nerds like us are infamous for being nitpicky about this kind of stuff, and I don't want to dictate what does or doesn't make someone a fan, but it's always cool when actors clearly care about the franchise that they're in, outside of just how it factors into their paycheck. Again, not saying that is or isn't the case with the R1 cast (especially Diego Luna and his weird Jabba fetish) but John Boyega's passion about Star Wars really shows, and I respect him for it.

Lol indeed. Vader's final shot was like saying: "LEIAAAAA! WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU ARE GOING?? COME BACK HERE RIGHT NOW!!!"

Agreed, it was impressive the way he disarmed the remaining rebels, I only saw that happen with Han pointing one blaster but Vader took away more.

First Felicity saying Han solo is her fave sw character bc he's really hot and now Diego's weird Jabba fetish...

Wow. I love R1's cast. Lmao.

Onne thing that felt off was how he did it a bit TOO easily...I get that he's really powerful but shouldnt he be at least a little weaker and struggle (if only a little bit)

Yeah he did. If there was a weakness in him I'd be surprised.

Saw R1 again for 2nd viewing and that Vader end scene was awesome.

For some reason found the whole movie better 2nd time round than the 1st.

It was awesome. Seen the film twice now and the final Vader scene has brought a tear to my eye through sheer joy and excitement on both viewings.

And I agree, the entire film was better on the second run through.

I've seen it four times and looking forward to the fifth. I do think that this movie will age well, especially if they improve the CGI characters in future releases. The Vader scene is definitely a top 10 SW scene of all-time for me, probably top 5.

Holy smokes Giacchino's score improved that scene. I wouldn't have imagined it could make such a difference. Thank you!

(Also the audio is messed up in the other two clips)

This scene was honestly just something else. I guess this just goes to show Vader never really went full out on Luke during their battles and the malicious intent was never really there to kill his son. I really like how rogue one added so many layers to the saga as a whole and you can really view some characters in a much different light now

The scene was pure magic. It gave us the Vader we all wanted to see without over doing it.

What I love about it is that the entire action sequence is under a minute in length. They could have padded it out for another minute or two if they really wanted to, but they didn't - and I really feel that "less is more" is the operating statement that explains why the scene is so effective. Especially since, with the absence of the Force or lightsabers in the movie, the Darth Vader's presence seems that much more otherworldly and unsettling.
