Finn did get a hit on Kylo Ren

I didn't even realise the disagree button counts as a negative rating :S.
Also I could swear I read "force theme" for some reason, which simply isn't in that moment.
In any case, I don't know what the force sound effect is so I officialy retract my disagreement with flying colours

he will face kylo again. honesly i don't see him being traditionally trained by luke. i see rey going the way of the force and finn going the way of the sword. he could find an already opened holocron or a old recording with the 7 forms of the lightsaber.

Well you see, after murdering his dad and being shot in the gut, kylo thinks it's now time to play around and have a good time. Thus why finn was able to get a hit on him. That's why he was punching himself and screaming traitor at him...for fun.

 

i don't think he's playing around in that regard. i think he's doing what a cat does with a mouse: prolonging the torture to hone his skill (how often does he have a chance to duel, anyway? and honor probably dictates it).

only when he realizes he's vulnerable, he decides to go in for the kill. i think it says something about his character that he's so arrogant / stubborn / deluded [?] to fence with Finn even though he's physically and psychologically crippled in the scene.

 

1. He doesn't sense Finn in that way.

You don't have to be force sensitive to be sensed by someone
Also, i could have sensed something was "off" with Finn, even in that suit.

2. Finn is trained in combat by the first order, hes a storm trooper

3. He needs to hold on to that saber. It's the most important item in the galaxy at the moment. He dropped to gun so he could run faster, and easier.

I don't think anyone questioned how important Finn is as a character, unless i missed it.
Finn is one of my favorites.
Although i don't think he is force sensitive, nor do i want him to be. No one can say for certain that Finn ISN'T or IS force sensitive....yet.

 

Not to get too embroiled into this resurrected thread/Finn argument but I always like to take the opportunity to ask why they don't want Finn to be force sensitive. So why don't you want Finn to be force sensitive?

Absolutely agree but unfortunately that won't stop the debate raging during the long wait we have for the next film.

 

In my personal opinion, i feel like Finn would be a better character overall if he wasn't.
Rey as the Jedi, and Finn as the sidekick friend who is godlike with a blaster. It contrasts perfectly to me.
Not quite sure how to explain it. I just feel Finn is his own character. Rey is her own character too, but we already know she is to become a Jedi. I just don't think Finn needs that same story arch.

I know my explanation may not make sense, but it's hard to explain And it's just my opinion

 

Ah, I see. I've often seen this reason as to why people don't want Finn to be fs but normally the reasoning is veiled slightly but I am thankful that you have given an honest open answer.

Not at all, it makes sense even if I don't agree with it. What else are we to do here but voice our own opinions.

Why wouldn't he get a rematch when the trilogy is up, even if he isn't force sensitive.

I'd say that Phasma will become the new jar jar and cod gently get Sith Upon For her efforts ant trying to destroy afinn sort of like Tom and Jerry ...no, seriously.

 

Oh man, if that's where they went with these movies....I'd kinda dig it.
Phasma is just some goof Saturday morning cartoon villain. Like she looks evil, but she's constantly slipping on banana peels and stuff. And finn is some overly enthusiastic 90s style cool mascot. Constantly throwing out made up lingo, such as his new catch phrase "ridiculadical" which of course is when something is ridiculously radical.

"I'll get you next time fiiiiinnnnn!" Says phasma during the close of episode 8. The camera then pans in to show her climbing out of another garbage chute. She pauses for a second to laugh maniacally. That's when her evil pet cat (also clad from head to toe in silver armor) also climbs out of the garbage chute to join in the insidious laughter.

Cut to black, to be continued.

 

Because Finn benefitted from peculiar circumstances: Kylo was physically weakened from Chewie's shot as well as the bloodloss, emotionally weakened when his father's death didn't provide him with the closure he so desperately craved, leaving him upset and unfocused, and his training wasn't complete.

Without this, Kylo would likely have ended the battle before it had begun by throwing Finn into a tree (like Rey) or freezing him (like Rey). And even then, this was all before Finn accidentally tagged him with the lightsaber, at which point all bets were off. If Kylo sees Finn again, it's not gonna be pretty.

Why would he kill him fast if he was just toying with him?

Why would, if he was perfectly healthy, he decide that he should take the fight seriously and end it fast?

 

Does all this apply to Rey as well or no?
