HUMOR Finn is the coolest character

Finn is so cool that he even got a thumbs up from BB-8!

i get annoyed when people rag on Kylo Ren, but i sorta "get" where that comes from.
when people say bad things about Finn, it just makes me sad.

i watched TFA on a loop yesterday (i was busy doing stuff, so i just had it playing straight through for about 8 hours).
one of the things that struck me is that there's a lot of criticism about Finn being "comic relief" and yes, he is funny.
but you know what? everyone in TFA is funny, including the villains (even Hux would have been funny if they hadn't cut his lines).

the only time Han isn't being funny is his first real conversation with Leia and when he's talking to his son.
almost every single reaction shot from Chewie is designed to be funny.
Rey is the "straight man", but that doesn't make her any less funny (bantering with BB-8, "the garbage will do", the mind trick, etc.).
all Poe does is crack wise.

people look for ways to be offended in a film sometimes.
that's the only way i can account for "funny" being a criticism.

Haha yeah that's what Gleeson said. The edits could have gone with the "happy Dude"- so yes, we can blame it on the edits. At least they hadn't cut all his funny scenes

I'm obviously late to this party, but Finn is easily my favorite TFA character, simply because he's the most relatable to me. He's not "over-powered" (the simplistic but basically understandable accusation thrown at Rey), he doesn't try to make himself something he isn't (Kylo Ren - even though, yes, that's the point of the character!), and in spite of lacking the obvious courage of someone like Poe, he's still a brave dude who pushes through his fears and wants to do the right thing. Sometimes he fails in the attempt (e.g., the fight with Kylo), but at least he gave it his best shot. He's the type of dude you just want to have as a friend cause you know you can count on him when you need him.

 

He became a cool character when he traded that stormtrooper gear for Poe's jacket.
