The official Star Wars website just posted a preview for the upcoming comic book adaptation of Timothy Zahn’s Thrawn novel. Check it out!

Marvel’s Thrawn series is written by Jody Houser (Marvel’s Rogue One adaptation) with art by Luke Ross (Marvel’s The Force Awakens adaptation, Darth Maul) and is set to be released in February of next year. According to StarWars.com, the six issues will be a retelling of Zahn’s novel about Thrawn’s backstory along with new never-before-revealed scenes.

In the preview, we get a glimpse at Ross’ interpretation of Mitth’raw’nuruodo (a.k.a. “Thrawn') and his first introduction to the Empire.

    (from StarWars.com):

I loved Houser’s take on Rogue One as she was masterful at delivering all the important aspects of the story while still giving readers something new to make the book worth the read. Luke Ross’ work in Star Wars has been excellent as well, and looking at the panels above, Thrawn looks to be no exception. I for one can’t wait to see what this team puts together here in a few months.

I'm excited but I really don't see how the entire novel can be adapted into just 6 issues. I wonder how much will get cut to make it fit.

It's funny how the second thing that jumped out to me after just how good wild Thrawn looks is that the stormtroopers still have Clone troopers armour as I read the book & knew it must stRt quite close to RotS but I still pictured them as having OT Stormtrooper armour on.
Anyway this looks like it's going to be a great adaption & will keep my SW fix going between seeing TLJ in Cinema & it's Home Release & the new Thrawn book coming later in the year.

Great news! I am not much of a book reader - more of a comic reader, but I like Thrawn so I am looking forward to this comic.

Don't think I'm going to pick this up. It looks cool, but I know the entire story because I've read the book. A comic adaptation doesn't add much for me, I guess

I noticed that too. The Clone Troopers on the cover doesn't make any sense, especially with the AT-ST Walkers in the background.

I just took it that this close to RotS they were still using the Clone Trooper armour but not clones as they are still getting the manufacture of Stormtrooper armour up to speed & they mat as well use all this spear armour they have.

When I first saw this thread I thought great, they’re re-doing the old thrawn trilogy comics again. didnt dark horse do all three books? I’ve always wanted to read those. I’m hoping they’ll come out in the epic collection

Looking forward to this -- the novel was pretty good and the art looks decent, Is this Marvel's first book adaptation? DH did the Thrawn Trilogy and maybe another, I forget.

As someone who generally doesn't have the time for a novel or audiobook, I am SO glad these comics get made! Really looking forward to learning more about this character that I only know from Rebels.

Looks pretty damn good - great work on the colouring too.

I got the Thrawn book for Christmas (and to be fair, the inclusion of Thrawn has been one of my favourite things about the new canon).

How does Thrawn die? I guess you don't have to tell me here but could you send me a message? I get nightmares about it when people keep telling stories I didn't think he was in. I thought Vader killed thrawn, but like,

well I don't know, do you think the sound was new when Anakin used it? Has there ever been a word, Vader? What does it mean? If you can tell what artoo's beeps mean, or what chewbacca's sounds say, can't you just, know Vader,
    means breathing?

do you guys believe in gods, in star wars? I keep thinking Thrawn was too scary, but people would steal the name, and act like they were him all along, you know? I thought he died even before Anakin's time
