I see this topic in exactly the same way, though I understand the complaints.

Oh dear... there are several things I want to point out.

    1. To use a rod(or something similar) and use a sword is a completely different thing. Her skills with that rod does not justify her sudden lightsaber technic.

    2. I cannot be sure the youtuber even watched ANH and ESB several times. Luke did not become a Jedi in few days train with Yoda. He learned basic ways of force for more than 7 days(Han said it is 200 hours) and I am sure he did self-training during 3 years between ANH and ESB, because he could do force grip which he couldn't in ANH. And it took another several years for Luke to use mind trick(ROTJ). Rey just did it. Also, Rey did not become a force user in a few days, it is a few hours. That's just ridiculus.

    3. Her childhood training(which is even not clear) about the force long time ago does not justify that she could beat somebody in force ways who has used force about ten years and has had constant training in force. She did not even remember training.

    4. I agree in the lightsaber fight scene. Kylo's injure is a justification enough.

Rey doesn't actually use any technique. she's pretty much flying by the seat of her pants (swinging wild, thrusting, and mostly just running).
Finn was more aware of how to hold and use the saber than Rey throughout the fight.

this. totally. he's not really present.
Rey won fair-and-square, but against an opponent who kinda didn't actually show up.

The Force choosed his side during the fight. If Ren won, he would have killed Finn, Rey and later Luke and the galaxy would have fall again to the dark side. It's the Force itself who decided that it was to Rey to discover Luke.

You mean the same Force that allowed the Jedi to be wiped out?

Yes. The Force works in mysterious ways.

Hello everyone! Wanted to drop off my full opinion on what I think about Rey, and her insainly quick learning ability. Now I'm going to list reasons on why I like and agree with this, and reasons why I disagree with her learning so fast, and things that bugged me about her character. I may get hate for this, but oh well, I need to express my opinion :p. Sit back, and grab a snack. This is going to be a long one.

Alright, so let's recap what we know aboout Rey ^^. Rey has lived almost all her life on her own being a Scavenger. She is independent, strong (physically and mentally), she is positive, and kind, mature, never hesitates, and looks up to the old rebellion and the new resistance (brave and strong role models). Luke didn't have all of this at the beginning of his journey, yet he learned quicker than almost all of the jedi back then, it's almost like evolution, as time passes, we grow and learn quicker and quicker each generation. (C.H.A.R.A.C.T.E.R. D.E.V.E.L.O.P.M.E.N.T lol), this is why I like Luke as a character more than Rey, ill get into that later). Learning about the force isn't just about "studying" it, the force is very mysterious, its a very mental thing as well. She is very skilled in melee combat with a staff, and has most likely been in many scraps before, because...well it's Jakku. From that, we know she knows how to balance and move her weight properly with each swing. Does that mean she knows how to use a lightsaber? well.....every little bit helps. As for pioleting, she really knows her stuff. Correct me if im wrong, but I believe she has flown ships previously? She has spent many years on Jakku as a scavenger collecting ship parts, she knows what each and every button does. She had a rough start getting the Falcon off the ground but she became an ace piolet of THE Falcon in less then 10 minutes without a co-piolet and, knew more about the ship than Han&Chewie did. What in the fuuuu.? (ill touch on this later). We know that in some way shape or form that Obi-wan is already contacting her through the force much like he did with Luke in Star Wars (1977). Luke and Yoda may also be doing this, but im not sure, too many question for episode 8. So as for the fight. Kylo ren under emotional stress and massive pain, has to fight Finn and Rey who are determined to leave. Kylo had been shot by Chewie's bowcaster, which is the equivelent of a grenade launcher, right in the stomach. He then gets stabbed by finn in the shoulder before fighting a 100% good to go Rey. Kylo at this point is really messed up, and he is only a sith padawan. For most of the fight Rey is barley hanging on, till the movie plot miric----I mean the force flows through her, and uses the last of her strength to beat Kylo.

So, Rey might be the daughter of the legendary Luke Skywalker which can always help, yknow D.N.A and traits from your parents is cool. But a part of me felt as if something was missing from Rey, but she has it all right? Everything..... OH! thats the reason I dont like her as much, she is a demi-god lol. We got to see Luke develop as a character, through learning the ways of the force and becoming a great Jedi, to forming unbreakable friendships, to forming Rogue squadron and becoming a master piolet, loosing to Vader and coming back up to rise above the enemy. Rey is already a good jedi, a god-like piolet, already rised above her enemy in one movie, and as an audience member who actually likes threatening fierce villians...cough, I didn't like it.

Alright, so here is where I might get big hate. Feminism in social media...... "ADMIRAL WE HAVE ENEMY SHIPS IN SECTOR 47! ITS A TRAP!!!!! Anyone seen the Ghostbuster trailer? It looks blast awful right? Well, its sad to say for people that don't like the movie, they have to say it very carefully because they don't want to offend feminists. (Fyi the all female cast is far far far from the reason why people dont like the movie). They kind of promoted a little bit of feminism in this movie. The whole "im an independent female who knows more stuff then all of you combined ex. (better at lightsabers, your own ships, you don't need to hold my hand unessicary scene). Im glad they didnt overdue it though. And people ask me why I like finn the most, because he was developed the most. Poe in that second spot*

Alright so what do I want to see in episode 8? Kylo Ren beat the sh*t out of Rey, and luke to save her. I want Rey to undergo massive development, learn and struggle while Luke is teaching her. I want the villians to be really threatining like they were in the original trilogy. Oh god, It's 12:20. I'm going to bed XD. I'd love to hear your opinions everyone! :) I'll be sure to read the rest thread later tomorrow night when I get time!
