For the first time, I'm not excited for a new Star Wars movie

To be honest, I'm not that excited to see it either. I'm going to watch it in cinema (already got my tickets) and there is some excitement within me. However, I believe it is mostly due to the fact that it premieres the same week I come back to my home for Christmas. For me, "Star Wars" was always the tale of the Force and while from time to time it is good to see some normal people face this bigger-than-life conflict, I'm not so sure about whole film about "normies." The biggest reason why I'm waiting for "Rogue One" is that the next film in the tale of a Galaxy far, far away is "Episode VIII" and boy, I am impatiently waiting for it to come out.

True. But we've only seen the jedi statue once as well and I doubt that was cut.

True. Perhaps it's a scene that's being kept under wraps. Could be a big moment in the movie but, we'll see.

Well, I like well-told Star Wars stories. I sort of get the idea of not bothering to make an investment in the characters, but at the end of the day, it's a stand-alone movie—so why not just view it as you would any stand-alone movie?

But it's got Darth Vader and Tarkin, and that one dude looks cool, and the other stuff. I think it will be a good time had by all.

I haven't been excited for R1 for quite awhile, but now that we are two weeks away or so, I am now.

My focus has been on VIII mostly.

Which plot hole? I'm not aware of any, except it will illustrate events only described in the ANH prologue (but technically, that's not a "plot hole").

The conveniently placed exhaust port is a plot hole for me. Why would the empire leave that spot so undefended? The trailers of Rogue One indicate it wasn’t a mistake at all. It was an act of sabotage.

The arrogance of the Empire. Surely nobody would dare stand up against their Death Star. The local systems will fall in line. That was their thinking. I don't see it as a plot hole at all.

However, if it turns out that Rogue One addresses the exhaust port, I'd be fine with that too. I don't see any indication of that in the trailers, though. But we don't have to wait long.

Maybe they did and were ignored. Or maybe it was noticed but people were afraid to speak up. I don't know. Lots of plausible reasons. But that's my own head canon. It might not work for everyone.

It's with a heavy heart that I came to the realization that I will no longer be able to enjoy new SW movies. I've seen every SW movie (including Clone Wars) in the theaters, so needless to say I used to be a life long fan. I loved TFA and saw it multiple times in the theaters even though there was some blatantly political aspects crammed into the movie. I can not stand when celebrities and the entertainment industry as a whole thinks that we the public should listen to their political beliefs. Entertainers are here to entertain us, to give us an enjoyable short term distraction from our normal day to day life. I refuse to listen to or financially support (by paying for their entertainment) any form of entertainer that tries to impose any form of political beliefs.

I'm sorry that you somehow equate diversity with politics.

I'll take it as a good opportunity to remind everyone to keep politics off the forums. Thanks.
