For the first time, I'm not excited for a new Star Wars movie

It's a matter of doing it while caring or throwing money at things but we all know he still cares about R1 and we should trust him until we see it for ourselves.

Oh yeah. He's earned good faith on some things. I have no reason to doubt his praise for this.

It's a matter of his Indy projects or his sw opinions. People think the same thing of me but I'm not Kevin smith Andy I'd love for him to direct a special sw movie

I would enjoy his take on a movie centered around a Jedi school and the training and how the Jedi of different ages coexist and interact.

Or two jedi talking about how the order affects them until a sith comes and kills them right before TPM.

I respectfully disagree because I have the same anticipation I did with TFA and with everything I'm reading it is going to be amazing.

Honestly, as a lifelong Star Wars fan, this might be the most excited I've ever been for a release.

I'm still a bit more excited for EP8, but this one isn't far behind. I just think Johnson is the most visionary of the new directors.

From what I'm hearing, this Star Wars film is a great movie in a film sense. I'm sure when people put TFA next to RO, we'll see why people hated The Force Awakens and it's flaws will be quite obvious. I'm not getting hyped. Haven't seen the two new trailers or tv spots. I'm going into this blind.

I agree. Saying RO isn't an interesting story because of the Death Star plans is kinda like saying you don't wanna watch Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade because you don't care about the Holy Grail. Don't let the MacGuffin stop you.

Exactly, or saying that you don't want to go see a Marvel movie because you know the good guys will win in the end.

Personally, I still hold the opinion that this will be about far more than simply the Death Star plans (which, on its own, would still make for a fantastic film). I think there's something the trailers have been holding back, something that might be laying the foundation for the new Star Wars releases to come.

Apparently, even if you have seen the two trailers, you are still going in pretty blind. There are reports that 50% of what is in the trailers is not in the movie!

Is that so, I got used to the trailer scenes appearing in a lot of movies at some point.

From what I gather, that kind of has double meanings.

On the one hand, it does seem that there is a lot that wasn't shown in the trailers. I'm excited to find out what!

Additionally, a lot of what was shown in the trailers is not technically a frame in the film, but rather what is essentially unused footage. Edwards basically used an old warfilm technique of filming conflicts using multiple angles in big takes, so as to properly capture the chaos of war. What we see in the film may not be exactly what was in the trailers, but it's presumably pretty close- it's not like those entire scenes aren't in the movie (cough cough Suicide Squad).

I feel bad for you, because this was probably my favorite Star Wars movie since a new hope!

Nope, I still haven't seen Rogue One. Several critics have confirmed my initial gut reaction which is this movie lacks on a compelling story/character development but delivers on action and beautiful cinematography. That's not enough for me to see a one off movie. I'll probably feel the same way about a Han Solo movie.
