    Hi.

    I am Ohbe. Or I was, for a short moment.

    I stumbled in through these doors with a purpose, honestly, without malice, no evil intentions, with a smile,
    but with a purpose. I came to seek Star Wars fans, hopefully the best bunch.
    I figured the Cantina would be my crowd, and it is, in a way, but you guys have ready cliques and casual fascism in place so it's hard to fit in.
    It really is.

    My purpose was rather simple, I wanted to share an experience, I still think it's a rotten idea, but my friends told me to not be so shy about it.

    That went rather well, right ?
    So far I've managed not to convince anyone to even try, and have mostly gotten hate mail, I get it, I'm self promoting.. but I'm also doing it anonymously and non-profit. For kicks, fun, you remember that, right ? Fun ?
    It's what you used to have as a child.

    I find it far more embarrassing and hurtful to be constantly on the defensive on account of trying to make people smile than any amount of insults, trollery, blindsiding or blackballing ever could amount to.
    I don't know how to feel about this corner of the internet, but I certainly don't fit and I certainly need love, compassion, fluffy feelings of community more than people rating each other for points that amount to a graphic.

    There's some really nice people here. Talk to them and don't outright decide they're wrong or out to get you,
    they probably don't care two sticks about you in all honesty, but that can change, usually for the better.

    I'm not gonna explain myself any further, feels like it's all I've been doing on this site.

    Instead I'm going to raise my glass for a toast:

    I don't really fit in here, either. Not that I fit in anywhere particularly well. But this is currently the best community of Star Wars fans that I've found on the internet. From the old-timers like myself, to the newbies who watched The Force Awakens and loved it enough to call themselves Star Wars fans, it is a good bunch of people. Yeah, the rating system kind of stinks sometimes and can discourage you from really speaking your mind, but I find that youtube is a better place to voice one's stronger opinions in a more anonymously cathartic manner. ;)

    As you say, this is a place to have fun. If you can't be positive, try to be funny; if you can't be funny, compliments will do. :D

    First, absolutely love your name.

    Second, yeah, this place has its issues. But I do find that at least most people tend to be cool here. I'm curious, you mentioned self promotion- what were you referring to?

    This is a forum made up of people. Any time a group of people are involved in anything there are disagreements and corruption. Just like the U.S Constitution reads "We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union" Not an absolutely perfect union, they knew as I do people are imperfect, but we need to try and do the best we can to establish justice and ensure domestic tranquility.

    People have opinions. This means that everyone's not going to agree with you all the time.

    I, for one, don't like when certain opinions are being ridiculed and strictly moderated just because they aren't considered the "right" opinions. This is unfortunately the case with TheForce.net forums. I came to The Cantina because this place is more laid-back and open. From what I hear, the creators of this site and forum are pro-PT and not a bunch of old butthurt OT fans.

    Pessimism is not a bad thing - pessimism is necessary for optimism to exist.

    People whose only arguments are "you racist" or "you sexist" belong to a sad generation of people who get offended too easily, and aren't prepared to look at both sides of a coin. They shut themselves in and reside in a bubble of "perfect opinions".

    Same story here. On TFN I couldn't say anything without the trolls crawling out of the woodwork. I'm a hardcore EU/Legends fan, there is literally no place for me on the internet these days. But I happen to enjoy talking to Star Wars fans, real ones, not trolls. The Cantina is the best place for that.

    Exactly. One of my biggest issues with TFN was the strange rule "No PT vs OT vs ST vs EU vs anything". As soon as you did any form of comparison, it didn't matter how well formulated or relevant your opinion was - you'd still get a warning. They literally have only ONE single thread where criticism against the ST is allowed, and the ST-defenders are circling that thread like beat around the bush, labelling anyone criticising Rey as a sexist.

    The ironic thing is that jokes about the PT is openly overlooked.
