Does anyone else enjoy Frasier? The adventures of Frasier Crane and his brother Niles and father Martin. Together with Daphne Moon, Roz Doyle, and of course, Eddie.

Me too. I have the box set that I received as my birthday present last year. It's been really fun to watch. That's actually mine as well. I also like Moon Dance in Season Three and a couple others I'll need to check for names. (Being careful what I type as I don't want to spoil the show for those who haven't seen it. Haha)

Haha. Hopefully. It could be a fun discussion.

Definitely. It was a nice present. Especially "there's only two rules in the tango" line... Haha.

    Evolution?

In the previous generation, psychiatry-themed entertainment was all about Frasier and Woody Allen, but these days, it's more about behavior-sarcasm shows (e.g., Two Broke Girls) and self-image adventure movies (e.g., Avatar).

I found this picture of a young Kelsey Grammer (below) which looks a great deal like DC Comics' American superhero Oliver Green (aka, 'Green Arrow'), a super-archer, so I thought I'd frame a mock dialogue between the two female protagonists from Two Broke Girls (Max Black and Caroline Wesbox Channing --- portrayed by Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs, respectively) talking about their imaginary 'superhero boyfriends' (perhaps Internet-avatars) Oliver Queen (Green Arrow) and Hal Jordan (Green Lantern).

Why not mix psychiatry with 'outlandish everyday life' when you're talking about 'new age pedestrianism'?

IMO, Frasier will be considered the Newhart of its time...

    ====

MAX: Do you like the show Frasier?
CAROLINE: I was a bigger fan of Cheers.
MAX: My boyfriend (Green Arrow) likes Kelsey Grammer.
CAROLINE: Grammer kinda looks like Oliver Queen (when he was young anyway).
    MAX: That's true.
CAROLINE: My boyfriend (Green Lantern) likes Ted Danson (from Cheers).
MAX: You know kids walk into our diner these days carrying all kinds of comic books.
CAROLINE: Yeah well, entertainment is all 'candy' now.
MAX: What if people knew/said "Hey, those two waitresses are dating Green Arrow and Green Lantern!"?
CAROLINE: You think they'd tip us more?
MAX: Let's pretend we're movie actresses (e.g., Anne Hathaway and Katie Holmes).
CAROLINE: You think they'd tip us more?
    MAX: Definitely.
CAROLINE: I'd like to see our two boyfriends fight over tips.

    Venture

I wanted to add another note about 2 Broke Girls (one of my favorite new TV sitcoms), and it regards the special cupcake-shop project one of the waitresses (Max) spearheads but is assisted by the other waitress (Max's girlfriend Caroline).

Max's cupcake venture nicely captures some of the 'mini-universe' side-stories we adore on modern TV and reminds me of some of the sideshows that Frasier's brother (under-appreciated) Niles takes on Frasier.

    Don't you love 'life-story' TV?

Actually, Frasier also reminds me of the new age Woody Allen-esque 'high-brow psychiatry oriented' entertainment...

That's why I compare Frasier to the modern life-story TV series Doogie Howser, MD, even if Doogie is not considered as culturally-symbolic as Newhart...
