Well I re watched The Red Wedding yesterday & god that is just such a brutal episode. I hate the Freys more than the Lannisters at least they have style the Freys are just a bunch of jumped up thugs & Iam still waiting for the Starks revenge but winter is coming & so are the northern houses.

Addi, you are now current with the show, correct? I couldn't remember if your marathon was a re-watch or a first time watch.

EDIT: Nevermind, I realized the answer to my question was only a couple posts above ... hahaha.

Iam up to Esp 3 on Season 6 & the cast is still dropping like flies.

Is it wrong that I like Sir Robert Strong the way he deals with The guy bad mouthing Cersi was certainly effective.

What a great season opener! Talk about building up tensions. It seems everyone is finally on a collision course, now it's only a matter of time...

    Easily:
"When people ask what happened here, tell them the North remembers... tell them Winter came for House Frey."

Definitely my favorite scene of the entire premier! I also really enjoyed "Little Bear" humiliating every cowardly schmuck yet again. Every since her "YOU IGNORED THE CALL!" speech last season, shes been my fave :D

I have a theory that its going to come down to the Hound vs the Mountain in a Kings Landing Octagon. I really hope thats where this is leading with those two. The Hound has the whole anti hero thing going on and with his heartfelt blubbering over the people he killed in season 4 last night, he is on his way to redemption.

OMG I can tell each scene on this episode had a reason, even when some had more impact than others.

I see both The Hound and Jaime Lannister following a similar path from the earlier seasons until this moment. We see there is a tense relationship between Jaime and his twin sister, and obviously Jaime has quite changed from that SoaB who pushed Bran from the tower.

It's going to be interesting as well to see Queen Cersei from last episode. Agree with Benioff/Weiss when they said "what's keeping her from being a monster? Her children are gone." And yet, it is interesting to see Sansa talking about her with some wicked admiration I daresay.

When that cold open started, I immediately thought of Arya's talents. But it didn't take away the amazement at that scene!

    Agreed, fantastic opener!

    What are your thoughts on:
The Lannister soldier scene with Ed Sheeran? From reviews I've read it seems pretty divisive. The people who don't like it tend to cite being distracted by Sheeran. The people who liked it tended to appreciate how it goes against the grain, showing extremely relatable Lannister soldiers and an Arya who doesn't seem to be currently murdering people. Personally I thought it was a fine scene, but I barely know Sheeran anyway, so I couldn't have been distracted.

But yeah, that Frey scene in the beginning was amazing, even if it was a bit of a redo of last season's events. The Freys deserve all the evil that comes to them, and after all- aren't two assassination scenes appropriate at The Twins? :p

I love Game of Thrones, but have only seen the first season. I need to get on the ball and rent, buy,or something the other seasons.

If they just didn't pause on Ed every time he popped up to make sure you KNEW who it was, it would have been a great scene. Instead, it's just good.

Oh you sweet summer child you are in for a real treat when you get to see the rest of the seasons & it works better when you see it in chunks rather than weekly.

Agreed. The cameo was only distracting because it's the highest profile cameo to date (as far as I'm aware). They've done it several times before, but with less recognizable faces: Coldplay, Snow Patrol, Of Monsters and Men, Sigur Ros, and I'm probably missing some...

Otherwise, it was a great scene. For many characters, the line between good and evil continues to blur!

And they never paused on them. It worked much more smoothly IMO.

and can't forget MASTODON playing free folk beyond the wall at Hardhome!

Lord Manderly: JON SNOW AVENGED THE RED WEDDING!

    Arya Stark: HOLD MY BEER

    LOL.

Regarding the cameo, I heard it was a gift from Benioff & Weiss to Maisie Williams who is a huge Ed Sheeran fan.

I liked anyhow that he was not the center of the scene, and at first I thought Arya would just kill them (by the way she was assessing the surroundings) but I liked how the Lannister soldiers were shown as just normal random people fighting other people's wars.

And Thoros of Myr! He's a cool cat... I want to see him and Tyrion in a drinking competition.

    Hahahaha YES! :D

Oh wow, that is pretty cool of them! I hope they surprised her, like she had no idea until she went to shoot that scene then sat down next to him... :D
