The show couldn't take 6+ years to figure out the next step. Martin can. They had a deadline lol.
The last book was supposed to be out like 2 years ago.
    This really isn't on D&D....lol

You are welcome to believe that, but I totally disagree.

First of all, the books and the show are two completely different entities. They are two different mediums. Martin purposely wrote the books so they would be unfilmable. He never considered the possibility of them becoming a TV series. Having said that, I love the books, but I also love the show. I love seeing the world come to life. I loved seeing Khalesi fly on Drogon for the first time and I love seeing the way they took out the dead guys last season.

What gets me is the few people trying to make an argument that D&D aren't the right choice for Star Wars based on the fact that GOT is famous for gratuitous nudity, sex and violence. As if they MUST bring that to the table when making a Star Wars film. I think these guys are smart enough, and talented enough, to make good films without needing to rely on nudity and sex. They are obviously successful in the fantasy genre, so I for one am pleased they are bring their immense talents to the Star Wars universe. They are certainly a better fit than the two clowns who were originally directing Han Solo.

I think you misread me because I completely agree with you :) Perhaps not with my feeling that I think the tv version of GoT is better than the books, but for the rest we agree.

I think the correct term is re-wrote those episodes. You can tell GRR Martins influence based on the writing of the last one and a half seasons.

These tweets by Pablo perfectly show that there'll be no R-rated SW content in the future.

I still think we could see a more adult oriented piece on the streaming service.

I'm guessing their Confederate project has been shelved indefinitely then?

Hopefully these guys will, at the fourth attempt, actually plot out a trilogy storyline spanning three films from the outset, with all the main character arcs pre-determined, and bring in directors that'll add there flare and touch ONLY within the framework of the complete 3-part, 3-act-each storyline

I don't think Benioff and Weiss were brought in to do R rated Star Wars nor do I think such a thing is a net positive for the franchise because I've really never seen a compelling argument for any need to do so.

Really we are talking blood, nudity, and F bombs. I don't miss blood. F bombs have no logical etymology in universe. Nudity? Let's see your story and we can talk about it but I tend to consider it out of context of the build of the universe.

I have no general objections to anything that would make R rated movies and own hundreds of them, I just think this universe has been formed where the need and fit of such things is pretty much organically superfluous.

I also admit a bit of a feeling of a sacred trust, of stewardship with these movies. I was not quite five years old when I first saw that star destroyer engulf the screen and would not feel right pulling up the ladder to that next generation of little kids to be able to go in and be thrilled too.

I feel like this is such a mistake. 1) I don't think Benioff and Weiss did a great job of telling the story George R.R. Martin had already written. I have been with Game of Thrones since the beginning and the show rarely features fluid, cohesive storytelling. 2) I love Star Wars, but I feel like Disney is shoving it down our throats. I wrote a piece on this: https://flatcircleblog.com/star-wars-fatigue-is-about-to-be-real/

Is it just my browser or? I cannot see the tweets by Pablo Hidalgo saying no R rated SW content in the future?
Also I asked a couple of days ago on threads: What makes a film Star Wars for you?
Do you just need to see a Star Wars icon in films? Or is it just like science fiction with an established science fiction author pointing to his work: That's science fiction? ie KK tells you it's Star Wars, so it is?

Imagine the scene where Obi tells Luke about the Jedi for the first time with two prostitutes having soft core sex in the background! "This is boring but necessary exposition...spice it up!"

Seriously? These two are the Sith of the GOT fandom. What's the matter, they reached maximum hate levels with GOT fans and want to try their luck with SW? Are they trying to turn EVERYONE against them? If so, I admire their commitment. It's crazy, but it's still commitment lol

The Old Republic is no longer canon/ Legends will we really get a film in this period?

Someone pointed out, Disney... The Old Republic era is no longer canon so Disney won't allow it.

Does this statement have any validity to it?

    No.
They make things from Legends into canon all the time.

They could easily make Old Republic era canon with new takes on that time frame.
You won't get a literal translation, but why would you want that anyways...
