There's a similar thread for purely Star Wars Lego Discuusion, but if you're a big Lego geek like me, then here's a thread for a broader discussion about Lego. You can talk about your favorite theme, favorite set, good deals you've gotten on sets, how you got into Lego, etc. Heck, you can even talk about Duplo if you want! So my Lego chums here at the Cantina, @Lock_S_Foils, @Addi Ras, @CloneTrooper95, and so on, come on over and let's talk about some Lego!
(Also, here's a link for the Lego SW Discussion thread here, if you just want to talk about Lego SW in particular: https://thecantina.starwarsnewsnet....neral-lego-star-wars-discussion-thread.11529/)

@JediChase17 - Cool idea for a thread topic!

I've owned Lego sets for most of my life. Other than Star Wars sets, most of my collection is from the '90s - in that era, I liked the Town and Space themes the most, but I also have some sets from the Pirate and Castle themes. (Of the space themes of that era, I liked Spyrius, Exploriens, and Ice Planet sets the most.)

I too have been collecting Lego sets for as long as I can remember. My favorite theme of all time probably would be The Lego Movie sets, based off of pure nostalgia. Over the years I've also gotten many City sets, Cars sets, Creator sets, Indiana Jones sets, Ninjago sets (still, one of the main themes I collect), Minifigures, and more. I'd say my favorite set of all time would have to be the Detective's Office, becuase it's (currently) the biggest set I own and also, the most advanced. The 2015 Millenium Falcon, Benny's Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP, and the 2009 City Corner set would have to be some of my favorites as well.

My favorite current theme has to be the Lego Ninjago Movie sets, because all (but one) look great, in my opinion. Actually I talked a little bit about it in the Lego SW thread, which lead to the creation of this thread here. Anybody else have a favorite theme or history with Lego?

They look nothing alike. Maybe it's just because they're both walking-type vehicles that look bad to me. Idk. Oh and here's this to give you nightmares tonight:

I was absolutely crazy about Legos as a kid. Even as a young adult, I'd design and build my own Star Wars inspired starfighters. I still have them sitting around somewhere. Nowadays I've passed the rest of my collection down to my nephews.

I always wanted the "Black Seas Barracuda" when I was a kid. It was pretty much the end-all-be-all for me. I didn't manage to save up enough for it before it became discontinued, though.

Ah, sets retiring before you can get them is the worst. I've been there many times.

    Pet Peeve time....

"Lego" - literally the Danish word for "play". It's also the name of a Danish toy company which has been making brick construction sets since 1949.
"Legos" - The American misnomer for Danish brick construction sets made by the Lego company.

Lego would like to appeal to all Americans that everytime you use their trademark incorrectly, you are damaging their trademark by using an incorrect name for their trademarked goods. Please stop it. Nobody else in the world calls them Legos, because its both wrong and weird sounding. Lego is the name of the company which makes the bricks, the bricks are not called "Lego" or "Legos".

For comparison, if I had a doll/action figure made by Mattel and if I played with it, I would not be playing with my "Mattels" would I? No.

Also, heads up to you Batman fans, the 2016 D2C Classic Batcave is on sale for 70 bucks off, which is a fantastic deal for a D2C set, though keep in mind that there's a rumor that we'll get TLBM Wayne Manor soon.

i went to the LEGO store yesterday and saw the UCS Millennium Falcon.
will have to go back on September 14th since they won't hold one for you, which is a bummer since it'll be hit or miss whether i can actually get it.

meanwhile, i wanted to buy out the whole store. so. many. cool. things.

in the spirit of excess, i picked up the Ninjago City. not sure i can finish building it before the Falcon arrives, but we'll see how far i can get.
my sister built her first Lego set ever this weekend (Kylo Ren's TIE Silencer). we had way too much fun for Force Friday. : D

I'm excited to see the Falcon at my Lego store around my birthday in two weeks. I wanna see how big it is in person!

I'm planning on getting Ninjago City in October, so you'll have to tell me what it's like. ;)

I went to TRU on Friday and it was really fun. I mainly went for the 2 for 5 Lego Minifigures deal and I ended up seeing all the cool Force Friday decorations and merch up in person. Heck, I even got an extra poster from their midnight event! You'll also have to tell me what the TIE Silencer is like, because I'm not 100% I should get this set. I'm still torn about whether or not I should get that BB-8 too...

i just unboxed it. to be honest, seeing the immense pile of bricks before me is daunting (and to think the Falcon is all that much bigger!)

First Order preparing to conquer a new world:

    Screen Shot 2017-09-04 at 8.58.20 AM.png

don't mind my super duper fancy work table there. i'll definitely be building the falcon on my actual desk and not the floor.
    Screen Shot 2017-09-04 at 9.22.31 AM.png

    the BB-8 looks really cool!

i'll be honest ~ the TIE Silencer is really cool as a display ship, but it's lacking in the fun factor. the new Kylo Ren is great and the BB-E9 is also awesome. i'm glad i bought it overall (even though i didn't get to build it), but if you like play features on your LEGOs, it comes up a bit short.

i had to take the wings off to rebox it (i was traveling for the weekend), but i'll put it back together tomorrow probably.
i couldn't carry it and Ninjago up my three flights of stairs at once, so i left it in my car when i got home last night and i'm too lazy at the moment to go fetch it ~ ha!
