Well now that the next episode is up online, it is time to talk spoilers! Definitely thought it was the best episode to date and loved the introduction to the Inquisitor. Felt very reminiscent of Qui-Gon's first encounter with Maul. I still don't know if the show does a good job of being subtle with it's references to the original trilogy, seems too on the nose for me. I did however like the mention of Yoda and how the "Do or Do not" message tied back at the end of the episode. So those are just some of my quick thoughts, curious to hear all of yours!

You can watch the episode here if you are able to sign in with your cable provider:

Post everything Star Wars: Rebels related here that doesn't need a separate thread.

I hope Star Wars Rebels lasts much longer than two season. I want them to beat Clone Wars! I just hope they eventually get off Lothal entirely and move somewhere else in the Galaxy. Lothal is great but too much of a good thing is not good.

Bingo! We don't need a cameo of a movie character in every episode. When we see a familiar face week after week (Obi Wan, Artoo and Threepio, Luminara, Senator Organa - and we're only three episodes into the season) it makes us wonder if the writers have so little confidence in themselves and in the characters they've created that they need to pull in a heavyweight from the studio movies to hide their own insecurities. It's a poorly conceived Deux ex machina that goes "This episode sucks, but everybody loves Artoo, so let's add him and maybe the fans won't notice how badly our Chopper fails!"

Just let 90% of the past go, and get on with the story. We're never going to get attached to the new characters if you keep upstaging them with old ones.

Okay, now that I've got that rant out of my system, let me start another rant.

    Stormtroopers.

Please explain how you enslaved a galaxy. I'm beginning to think your blaster carbines are just red tinted flashlights with gun stocks glued onto them, because YOU GUYS CAN'T HIT blast WITH THEM! I'd hide my face behind a helmet too if me and fifty of my comrades couldn't hit any of Zeb's 400 pounds from five feet away with unlimited ammunition. Seriously, if a sarcastic giant space ape tried to pick me up and throw me, I think the sheer panic I'd feel would inspire me to squeeze the trigger a little faster.

Okay, you couldn't shoot Luke in the original Star Wars movie. I get that - he was the hero and he had that whole Force thing going on. That's excusable. But then you get your collective asses kicked by teddy bears who use your helmets for musical accompaniment to the Yub Nub dance and I threw up a little bit in my mouth. It couldn't possibly get worse in Rebels, could it?

Yes, it could. So far I've seen stormies shot, ran over by speeder bikes, thrown off of cliffs and buildings, bashed together by Space Ape, and blown to bits by Pinky Fett. I've probably seen a hundred or so stormtrooper blaster bolts fly across the screen, but I've yet to seen a single stormtrooper actually hit anything.

If I was the Emperor I'd implement a new stormtrooper marksmanship policy - any trooper incapable of hitting a moving human sized target from 10 feet will be placed 10 feet away from the firing line and told to start dodging.

I'm looking forward to the re-run of Spark of Rebellion on ABC tonight with the Vader scene.

It's good to see Ponda Baba and some Ithorians getting around, but yeah can't tell if we'r being sucked in a bit yet?

Have to agree with Nerfect: it would be nice if someone could teach Stormtroopers to shoot.. but still fun seeing them still around.

I am actually enjoying the early character progression with Ezra and the interplay with Chopper. I think this is going in a Luke/ R2 direction and that should be cool.

Love the Lasan Zeb (not just because of accent). From what I have seen in first couple of episodes my son likes him and I think he is the vulnerable tough but vulnerable character that we have loved in rebel characters since ANH.

By the way as I told my wife I didn't actually watch a cartoon, I just happened to be there when my 11 year old was.

If someone finds the Vader scene on YouTube they need to post it here.

I actually have an article prepped for the actual clip itself when it hits the internet, so I'll post it there (I'll post it here, too, provided that someone else doesn't beat me to the clip). Apparently, the clip actually aired before the show started, which I think is odd considering that it's supposed to take place after the end of the episode.

I got to see a Vine containing a fraction of the clip, and apparently, James Earl Jones's voice sounds a lot deeper in this recording than the recordings that he did for either the Original Trilogy or Revenge Of The Sith, and it's a bit harder to recognize his voice. I guess that his age has something to do with it.

Camcorder-quality version of the clip inbound!

When a "clean" version is posted, I'll post it on the article I have set up.

This is the first I've heard of 'The Children of the Force'. Who is Vader referring to? Luke, Leia, and Ezra?

Vader is here talking of Ezra and Kanan perhaps, and small group of rebels as children of the force the Emperor has foreseen.

But also perhaps Luke and Leia possibly as his own children.

Luke, Leia, and Ezra are 14 at this time, so I don't think Vader would be referring to their children.

Hmmm, he would call his own children, children of the force, as he always acknowledged he was once a Jedi. Then Obi Wan has to one of last of Jedi who could train them.

Yeah but need to get my timelines sorted. We'r talking about Rebels here not E7

They may be referring to Force sensitives in general.
How would you feel about 'The Children of the Force' being the title for Episode VII.

I think I need to focus on 'where I am and what I'm doing' and stop talking rubbish...

Now there is an add in Packers/ Saints game I can safely say I think Vader is referring to Ezra here and or Kanan who could perhaps be trained by Obi Wan or Yoda or any other remaining Jedi the Emperor may not be aware of!

However, I think the focus would be on Ezra and Kanan and the threat of their small band to the Empire at this stage.

(I hope that sounds marginally intelligent)
