My memory on Rebels is rusty, but wasn’t Gar Saxon wearing an Imperial version of Mandalorian armor? Like made out of the same material as Stormtrooper armor? If so, that’s probably the explanation why.

That’s incredibly cool! Dave Filoni is an easter egg master!

    My one question about rebels...
How and where does one learn how to draw this with spray paint? I mean, it seems like the design would be impossible to do neatly without a paint brush... 073CDB1D-D147-4CFC-8701-525785D94871.jpeg

Also, this is a universe where the rules of physics are optional, where sound carries through space, where multi-tons stilt-tanks is a good idea, where you can harness light or plasma or whatever it is into a sword-blade, where giant whales & snakes/eels live in space, where instant-communication across thousands of lightyears of space is possible, etc. etc. etc. I feel that spray can technology is not the logically most challenging aspect of Star Wars ;)

i hate when people call rey a mary sue, but then pass over sabine. I mean, she got some good development in trials of the darksaber, but at 16, she can do a lot of crazy stuff.

To be fair though, if we used that same logic on Anakin what do you have to say about the pod race...

Agree. I've been rewatching it the last week or so after having watched the entire Clone Wars series. It makes for a fun quasi-sequel, in terms of Ahsoka.

I’ve been binge watching it the past couple days and I feel like I am watching it for the first time! (I haven’t watched a single episode since the finale aired two and a half years ago.)

I rewatched The Clone Wars just before this and while I love that show more, I’m enjoying my Rebels rewatch more because of the fact that I haven’t seen it in so long.

Something that doesn’t get brought up much about this show is the fact that Lando and Leia make appearances! I had almost forgotten about that myself, but I really enjoyed seeing the both of them. I loved hearing Billy Dee Williams again and I felt like both their characterizations were perfect.

I really hope to see official confirmation of the long-awaited Rebels sequel by the end of this year.

Just finished Family Reunion and Farewell and man, I really enjoyed rewatching it and this show as a whole.

The funny thing is that this show was sort of my entry into Star Wars and I had not given it much thought the last couple years. I caught Spark of the Rebellion on TV once and became intrigued by this wondrous universe. The next thing I knew, I was watching the films and The Clone Wars and reading the books and the comics. By the time Season 4 rolled around, I had kinda started hating on the show. I became the big Clone Wars fan I am now and I fell into the trap of hating on Rebels because it wasn’t TCW. (Which is why Season 4 was the chunk of the show I had the least memory of; this was my first time watching these episodes since they premiered almost three years ago.)

Fast forward to now where I found myself more consistently enjoying the show than TCW. That’s partially since I’ve seen The Clone Wars many more times and thus wasn’t as fresh and exciting to me. TCW definitely has higher highs but it also has lower lows, whereas I think Rebels was “good” for most of its run, with a chunk of “meh” and a substantial amount of “great”.
I don’t believe that there was a single bad episode of Rebels, while Clone Wars admittedly had a fair amount of them.

People accuse Rebels of having too many filler episodes, but I really feel like they all had a purpose. The characters learned some sort of lesson that helped them grow or they went on some side quest that paid off later.

I loved the family dynamic of the characters; it really made this show stand out from other Star Wars media. Kanan and Sabine were the standout characters for me. Both of their storylines were great, but the rest of the main cast all had times where they shined. (I still wish Ezra was a little less goofy in the second half of the show; it almost felt like a step backwards in my opinion.)

I also think that the appearances from pre-existing characters like Ahsoka, Leia, or Saw Gerrera were interwoven masterfully even if I do feel like the Ghost crew met up with a few too many Legacy characters at times. Kallus’ arc is possibly one of the best redemption arcs in Star Wars (along with Ben Solo and Asajj Ventress); I hope to see more stories with him in the future.

My small gripe with the show is having two Jedi still fighting in the Rebellion only a year before Luke comes around. I feel like it makes him less special and I have a hard time believing that random people like Wedge never brought them up to Luke. (That we know of; it could still happen in a future story I suppose.) Leia seeing Kanan doing that sick Jedi move against the AT-ATs is a great example of this.

In the grand scheme of things, if a minor continuity problem is my biggest problem with the show, then I think that it was a pretty good one. I really hope people stop sleeping on this show by the time that the follow-up series finally arrives (please let it be next year!)

Also, here is this gem of a line from Grand Admiral Thrawn himself:

“I expected Governor Pryce to fail but not so completely.”

Some good points about why I don’t like Rebels that much. It’s not as one sided as the title might lead you to believe.

I liked Rebels. But it was more designed for a younger audience. If you compare Clone Wars to Rebels, you’ll see that Clone Wars has more death and darker topics yet stilling maintaining that comedic style to it. Rebels just doesn’t have those aspects to it. None the less, I still like Rebels and I like the Characters in it. I mean after all, we still see Ahsoka and Rex so im done for that. @Embo and His Pet Anooba why don’t you like Rebels? This is why Im not as much of a fan but I still like Rebels :)

Video pretty much explains it. I just don’t like the characters or how inconsistent it is. There are good parts, namely Hera and kanan, the time travel episodes, and whenever Vader shows up. For all my gripes against canon, they really get Vader

Think I'll start a rewatch of Rebels once I put the kid to bed tonight. Should take a couple weeks, as it did about a year ago. I loved this series -- the characters and their arcs were right in my wheelhouse -- so it's fun to revisit ever so often. I'll then be in the mood to transition into Clone Wars, if history repeats itself.

I watched a 45-minute interview with Filoni today, which put me back in the mood. His love of all-things SW really shines through. Sooooo appreciate this guy. (Full disclosure: I initially wasn't a fan of the Rebels finale but have come to accept -- and actually respect -- how they wrapped up the series. I guess the fact I'm rewatching is a testament to that.)

Be good to one another, folks!

Absolutely spot on i couldn't agree more, Rebels is great Star Wars and suits me to a T, easily some of the best Disney Star Wars behind The Mando for me.

I have rewatched Rebels over Christmas Holiday in a binge, as I was 5 days in quarantines which canceled some of my plans. And it was better, than I remember when I was watching it weekly as it aired. Followed with Rogue One and Original Trilogy.

It was interesting to me how my look on the series changed. I was huge Clone Wars fan and the anthology format worked for me on weekly basis and I was happy that Clone Wars were finally covered as galaxy wide conflict and not just intro and outro in Episode II and III.
So after they have announced Rebels, that were more goofy and first season was just on Lothal, I was kinda grumpy and not much of fan, but still watched it.
Trough season 2 up to 4, it got better and better, but still favored Clone Wars. This changed recently.

I went ttrough Clone Wars again and stopped in Season 3, as the anthology format was overwhelming when binge watching and my favorite Mortis Arc, somewhat weren't that interesting to me anymore and also, it was 4th time me rewatching the series.
Also watching the horrible Resistance show, which I quit watching midway in Season 2 and never finished helped.

The first arc is short when watching straight without waiting for new episodes and it helps to get attached to the characters when you watch the same group.
And there is ton of character development for all of them, which I enjoyed. And even what seems to be filler, has a meaning later.

I really enjoyed watching one rebel cell or rather, rag tag group of idealists becoming part of alliance of rebels in the process.
Inquisitors were great and it's pitty we just got 4 of them. Loved Vader vs Ahsoka, Ezra maturing into the epic finale, Thrawn was awesome and Lars Mikkelsen portrayal was chilling.

My only gripe was a bit with Thrawn when reading the books also. In the old trilogy, he is straight out villain, as he is in the Rebels as well, which got probably inspired by the original Thrawn. But suddenly, this shifts a bit in Timothy Zahn's writing in the new books that serve as Rebels tie-in, where he is more sympathetic and even tough with the cold Chiss rationality, he has some morale as he is focusing on bigger picture. Maybe what hurts my view on him is, that he is not protryed in bigger detail in Rebels as he is in the books, so we don't know his thoughts and I can base his character just on the dialogue output he has towards the heroes of the series.

But it was more enjoyable watching second time and even got a bit dark, like the Mandalorians being vaporized, or the family friend of Ezra's being killed by sabotaged speeder exploding on Thrawn's behest.
Also, I saw it more as it's own thing and not comparing it to Clone Wars, which helped, as during the premiere I was also biased by the cancelation of Clone Wars and being used to bigger world. But sure, the smaller scope makes sense as the series focuses on rag tag group doing small cover missions and not fighting all-out war.

I hope that Bad Batch will live to it's two predecessors and won't repeat the Resistance scenario, which is a series I will gladly forget about.
