people complaining about Forces of Destiny could do with this reminder as well.
it's not about the fact that we shouldn't demand quality from any and all work put out there.
but we also have to allow that these things are produced for children as their primary audience.
everything doesn't have to be tailor-made for any one group's specific tastes.

to me that's the beauty of it: there's plenty of Star Wars for everyone! : D

Totally agreed. I would vehemently disagree with anyone stating that Star Wars is just for kids, but that doesn't mean that every single facet is some egalitarian utopia for all age groups. Rogue One was pretty arguably the most adult film for Star Wars fans- that's why we saw way less toys and merchandise marketing come from it. Much like with Rebels, kids could enjoy it, it's not like it was overly inappropriate or anything. It just had different themes, and kids needed to be in a different mindset- they couldn't go in expecting flashy Jedi fights and snappy heroes saving the day.

And I'm sure not all kids could enjoy that type of film, and that's okay too.

I think the Forces of Destiny complainers are just bizarre. Sure, I'm not personally a fan of the series itself- but I'm aware of the series' demographic, and I'm a huge fan of what it's doing by rectifying some past issues and celebrating the badass ladies of Star Wars for children to see.

I agree with both you and the guy in the video. Teens and up aren't the demographic, but they try to fit things like Thrawn, Maul, etc. in for the older fans watching the show. Sometimes people just expect too much of this show, when the demographic clearly likes the show as it is.

That said, I do agree with many of the things this guy said in the video, as I have many of the same problems. Ezra and Zeb are "Meh...", the show's noticable inferiority to TCW, and the repitition of the story. I also don't feel like the show has enough stakes, even for a show primarily aimed to the 7-12 boy market. Even in the more "kid-friendly" episodes of TCW, there were some stakes and losses. I'm not saying to go all Rogue One or anything, but Kanan going blind (and not being too big of a deal for the majority of the season) and Ezra going all "edgy" (for a single episode) were the greatest losses of the main protaginsts in the last season. I guess maybe Sato and multiple face-less pilots count? Compared to the more kid-friendly era of TCW, where we lost beloved characters, such as Ninety-Nine, and there were more emotional moments, such as Boil and Waxer's scene with Numa at her home. Now, I don't mean to sound like the people I referenced above (expecting too much of what I want in a show of this sort), and I'm not saying that the show is awful and that "DiSnEy iS rUiNiNg StAr WaRs", but I feel for some of these reasons are why the show has left a lot to be desired for a good deal of people.

But what matters is that at least the kiddies get some enjoyment out of it. My 11 year-old cousin loves Star Wars too and likes this show. Besides we (the older fans) will always have TCW and Rogue One was essentially a two-hour episode of Rebels with more aimed at adults.

Totally, but like I said earlier, I think Rebels would have a challenge with killing characters even if it wasn't so heavily aimed at kids.

TCW had time to spare with characters. There are tons of Jedi in the prequels, and while most of the Jedi themselves are accounted for, TCW had and utilized some creative freedom when dealing with apprentices- being an apprentice was sometimes like being a red shirt in that series.

And then there's the clones. There's like a bajillion of them. TCW did a fantastic job taking the faceless (in and out of the helmets, really) clones and really making them into characters that we could get attached to.

With Rebels, it's tough. We can't kill major characters that appear in the OT, because... well, that haven't appeared yet. So, characters like Mothma are obviously safe, and it's why characters like Sato get the chopping block. If anything, perhaps we should have just gotten more of Sato earlier on.

Plus, we're supposed to believe the Rebels have pretty limited resources. Every rebel death should be a punch in the guy, and maybe we need more of that, but we also have to actually believe that the amount of Rebels by Scarif is realistic. We can't make it like GTA cops, where the amount of casualties by the end of a season is probably more than the total roster should be in real life.

I guess we could've had that with Rebels with random Rebel soldiers given more characterization, but we also have to remember that Scarif was technically the first major "victory" for the Rebellion. If we're going to start having stuff more than simple missions, we're gonna run into the opposite issue, in that the Rebels lose literally everything.

I think (and hope) that the final season addresses this, as was ideally the plan all along. It can afford to be a little dark. I'm definitely not of the opinion that the entire Ghost crew needs to die, but... some can. And, I think some should.

Well, I've been binge watching Rebels the past few days, because I haven't watched the first two season in forever. I'm starting to like the show better than I was say, a week or a month ago, even if I do think that it has many more flaws than TCW. It might be nostalgia, because I used to love the show, but I'm getting excited for Season 4. I mean, just to have something to watch...

Agreed, it took a while for Rebels to win me over.

So far, I'd say each season really keeps getting better and better.

I'm ok complaining about things I don't like, while recognizing that's it should still exist. Not everything is made for me, and that's ok. I'll still reserve the right to talk trash about it. Poor quality stuff doesn't make me mad, which is healthier for me, but maybe no less annoying to anyone else.

That said, I don't see forces of destiny as "great star wars aimed at small kids, celebrating the bad ass women of star wars." I see it as a doll advertisement.

Of the post ROTJ movies, 4 out of 5 have a female lead. They are great products that I super enjoyed. Rebels has Hera and Sabine. Making great products starring female leads is the best way to celebrate the badass women of star wars, IMO.

Considering Rebels is made on a fraction of the budget of TCW, that makes sense. Lucas personally funded the show out of his own pocket.
