I have no rason to doubt this.. I would LOVE to see Jimmy Smits come back as ANH Bail Organa. Could really solidify his role as a Rebel leader, and the emotions that come with him being blown up with Alderaan.. Leia's reaction would be given an extra (canonical) layer. Wonder how they'll do Princess Leia though. Carrie Fisher would need to be CG'd, best case scenario for casting her. Or they could recast.. Wouldn't be surprised if they passed on Leia's appearance in the film for this reason.

Vader's presence appears to be very important in this film, whether it is felt or seen. I don't see that changing down the road.

I would love a lead-in ti the opening of ANH, with the Tantive IV and everything.. They could also set-up Leia's mission to contact Obi-Wan, by having Bail giving her the mission and briefing her on his history?

I've been pretty luke warm about these anthology films so far. But this MSW report genuinely got me excited. The possibility of Vader being an antagonist is genius.

And the very first thing mentioned in the post has me worried
In Star Wars they specifically mention the plans were BEAMED to the Tantive IV

Quote from the Clone Wars :
"Poggle the Lesser : The Jedi must not find our desings for the ultimate weapon. If they find out what we are planning to build, we're dommed.
Dooku : I will take the designs with me to coruscant. They will be much safer there with my master."

The Death Star plan still on coruscant after the Clone Wars ? Will we see Dath Sidious in Rogue One?

There are a couple in there that I haven't seen but it seems a lot of them are just guesses he's putting together from what Gareth Edwards said at SWC. Pulling them from the timeline given. But my biggest thing is how can this guy claim this to be an Exclusive if other sites have already talked about this and the info being out there already?

They should start shooting any time now, right? Didn't TFA start shooting around this time of the year?

Yeah, TFA started filming in May so I'd think they would already have started or next month.

My head is so overloaded with TFA that I can't digest yet that another Star Wars movie comes out months later to TFA... The period between III and IV is one of my favorite timeline period's of all the Galaxy timeline :) so I'm pretty exited for it.

let's speculate on Rogue One for the first time:

    - Anakin is still the main bad guy of this period between Episode III and IV it is his "Golden Age" as Darth Vader.
They must use him. He has to be the super bad guy in RO because Vader is chasing the Rebels who stole the plans because he tracked down the plans till he had to intercept the Tantive IV. So I think the movie should end with Vader beating up the rebels who BEAMED the plans to the Tantive IV and then going after the Tantive IV. Every minute of Vader in the screen will be beautiful for this new wave of Star Wars movies. All fans will love it.

    - If Vader is gonna be there. A Jedi has to be there too.
The only options for me of seeing a Jedi in RO are: Kanan, Ezra, Obi Wan or Ahzoka. I have the strong feeling of Rebels ending where RO begins or having a really strong connection with the Anthology Film. If Ahsoka, Kanan or Ezra survives Rebels then I think there will be strong chances for them to their characters to have a conclusion in RO. For me Diego Luna could play Ezra in RO but frankly maybe Ezra dies and Kanan fulfill his destiny later on RO who knows...

    -Obi Wan
Maybe he has a small chance of being in the movie if they cast Ewan McGregor and remember that (I think) Uncle Owen says in IV that old Ben hasn't been seen for a while in Totooine. So maybe old Ben went to a secret mission and came back just in time to save Luke from the Tusken raiders. Also remember when Vader's says "I haven't felt this since..." In IV I really don't think he means their final battle on Mustafar but that "since..." sounded like a long time ago but not necessary Episode III they could had another encounter before IV for an Epic Obi Wan Anthology movie or at some point in RO? Also remember that in the teaser trailer of Rogue One that they showed on Celebration was narrated by Obi Wan.

    - I think this is gonna be the best Anthology film.
First of all, this movie has an awesome plot with a big influence on the Original Star Wars. So maybe after seeing RO we could watch IV knowing new storylines that blends with IV. I want Anthology films to blend in mostly with the Original Trilogy, if you ask me, after doing Rogue One, for me, the second Anthology movie should be something between V-VI and my candidate for that is "Shadows of the Empire" storyline if that happens I don't know if Rogue One would be the best of Anthology films.

And finally I just want to do a Dream list of Star Wars movies:

    2015 The Force Awakens
    2016 Rogue One (Vader's movie)
    2017 Episode VIII
2018 Anthology film 2: Shadows of the Empire (or a movie based on the same timeline period)
    2019 Episode IX
2020 Knights of the Old Republic (Netflix/HBO Super high Budget Series)
2020 Anthology film 3: Obi Wan
    20-- Episode X

I don't want to rain on other people's parades, because we all come to this silly toy franchise in our own way and for our own reasons and all those reasons are valid. One man's Peter Criss is another man's Ace Frehley. One man's Watto is another man's Lobot.

But I have to say, I am less excited about Star Wars Rogue One than any Star Wars film in history. It really doesn't interest me in the least and really the LAST thing I want to do is fill in more gaps between III and IV.

I'll go further, I'd really like this film to fail. I don't like the whole concept of Anthology films. I don't like the idea that Disney is skewing towards "more means better" and perhaps most controversially of all, I think Gareth Edwards is one of the dullest action film directors out there right now. Godzilla took all the allegory out of the original film, took out all its soul and replaced it with just an array of meaningless action sequences coupled with very tacky art direction.

I feel like Cassandra every time I read new info on this film. It just seems to developing a very peculiar odor.

That's very negative and snarky, apologies, so I need to end it on a positive note...

There might be some effort here to make the Anthology films a lighter, kid-friendlier franchise, something simple, something less artful, but louder and brighter and a lot more like a traditional action film.

That may license VIII to be really dark. It might allow Disney to try and be a little more on the edge, because they are hugging so tightly to the mainstream with the Anthologies.

I don't think Rogue One is going to work for me, but I recognize it's going to work spectacularly for many other fans and I'm happy for you (even a little jealous), because I keep trying to get interested in this project, but right now (for me) its more of a sense of dread than excitement.

But I don't want to spoil the party, I hope its spectacular and I hope these concerns and this post are ridiculed forever after the film comes out and it is totally awesome.

Someone on reddit is (almost plausibly) claiming that Rouge One is having script issues despite going before cameras in the next month or two...

    https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWarsLeaks/comments/3bnczn/some_tidbits_ive_heard_about/

Frankly, this doesn't surprise me, but I feel like the elephant in the room is the fact that they hired two positively mediocre writers to handle such a complex and epic story. Gary Whitta and Chris Weitz? Could they really not find anyone better? I can think of dozens of writers far more suited to this. I saw this coming a mile away, dare I say, even predicted this.

I get the feeling when they hire these types of writers, it's because Lucasfilm expects not to have to deal with big egos. The writers are going to agree to anything the Lucasfilm story group puts on their table. They don't want to have to deal with external writers and their ideas.
I think that's what is going on. Hope not, though.

Honestly, that sounds pretty plausible. It's probably what happened, and it's not a bad strategy if it works.

Lucasfilm comes up with the story, they hire the writer and feed them what they want in the treatment. Then the writer does the draft, and, as you said, stays ego free and will take heavy notes from Lucasfilm. Then, you bring in a second writer to sand down the rough edges of the first draft -- an entirely new perspective.

Finally, you bring in Kinberg or Kasdan to do a re-write and get things in shape, giving it that authentic "Star Wars" voice. And voila... you navigated the tricky ladder of the development process and have a decent script.

Now if it backfires on you, and the writers are THAT bad, then this model falls to blast... which I'm guessing is what happened with Rogue One.
