    They got lucky with that likeness cast of Cushing they found leftover from another production. I'm thinking that's what gave Tarkin's cji the egde over Leia's?

    Don't get me wrong, she was awesome, but I wouldn't go so far as to say perfect. But, that's just me.

    The brightness of the scene is definitely why people say that she looks "off", whereas Tarkin being in a relatively-darker lighting made him look more reralistic. Conversely, the fact that is that she doesn't talk very much; Tarkin's mouth movements is what tends to be most criticized about the effect that they used.

    I personally thought both were great and that Leia was slightly better, in part because of the reasons I listed. I don't really get why there are accusations of it falling into the Uncanny Valley, though, but I usually don't have that issue with most photorealistic CGI humans in movies.

    For me it wasn't the brightness of the scene at all. It's just that, well, it's cgi and it's noticeable that it's cgi. I'm not knocking it at all, they've come a long ways with what they can do these days. It still delivered the desired effect for me and IMO that's what's most important. I was cheering and clapping with joy because it was so awesome even THOUGH it was noticeable. Now the K2 motion cap cgi IMO was even better. I couldn't tell that there was actually NOT a metal droid present in K2's scenes, i.e., the U-Wing cockpit with Cassian. Though I am taking into consideration that a droid is not flesh and blood and I'm sure the process is way less complex.

    It's a fair question, but also ask yourself what is easier - to build the house from the foundations or tweak the facade when it's already built? :)

    After experiences my parents had with renovating our present house I'd say that the answer is not as obvious as it seems. ;)
