Well, I think Ep.IX is going to provide a good and satisfying ending to the ST. As for a mind-bogglingly epic ending to the Skywalker Saga, that would tie all 9 Episodes together and feel like the story you've experienced for 40 years is coming to a conclusion - that's probably not going to happen. For several reasons, including the nature of these films as well as the fact, that's nothing is ever going to be as good, as in your head. What we'll most likely is the end of the ST storylines and a chance to say goodbye to the OT cast.
So, the best approach is to expect an ST ending and be surprised if I am wrong, rather than expect the epic Skywalker Saga ending and be disappointed (again) if I am right.

Well, it’s my concern, and one that some people here share. If you’re not concerned about it, that’s fine, and I’m happy for you. I’m not entirely sure where you’re getting this “mind-boggling ending that will tie everything together” from what I said; the word that I used was “satisfying”. I’m not expecting some over the top, “hey, let’s do everything, bring Thrawn, Plagueis, et al into this”, etc., that’s not what I’m saying. I agree with you that these films can’t be what we want them to be in our heads, but that has nothing to do with getting a “satisfying” ending.

I’m saying that I found VI to be a satisfying ending to the OT and the Skywalker Saga when I watched it, and that I found III to be a satisfying ending to the PT and the Skywalker Saga. They tied up their own stories neatly and thematically in a way which was “satisfying” (for the most part — a lot of people have come around on III, but I’m sure there are still those unhappy with the prequels as a whole). I don’t know what it is about my posts which has you thinking that I expect some grandiose ending like that.

I, and everyone else here, including yourself, just want to be “satisfied” with IX being the culmination of the ST and the Skywalker Saga, in the exact same way that the majority were satisfied with VI and III being the culmination of the Skywalker Saga upon their release.

If you put it like that, then I don't think you should really be that concerned. To conclude the Skywalker Saga they need to do two things - give a proper sendoff to Leia and a proper resolution to Kylo Ren's arc. Which is what they are going to (try to) do anyway. Add to that an ending to say goodbye and there you go - Skywalker family saga is concluded.
It's just that, when people say the want "a conclusion to an entire saga" it always sounds like something major and epic. But, I guess, a family saga at it's core is something small and personal.

Yeah, I’m in agreement. I think we’ve been eye-to-eye on a lot of these things, just accidentally taking each other’s posts out of context

It’s great that we kind of know what their plans for Carrie/Leia are now, my concern lies more with Ben’s story wrapping up. I suppose it just depends what frame of mind we find him in at the start of IX which will make me wonder if we’ve missed something with having the larger time jump here rather than between VII and VIII: if his frame of mind changes during the course of the film from what it was at the start to the end, that’s great. My greatest concern is that we find a Ben Solo at the start of the film who has become disenchanted with his desires stated at the end of TLJ — it will just feel like we’ve missed something, right? Because, to go back to III and VI, both Anakin and Luke went further down the path that they were already on in the previous film (which is why I’m concerned about the short time jump and then the long one, as opposed to the opposite): their views on matters were consolidated in the time inbetween, and we see them make a choice in line with where their character was heading. I suppose a worry which branches from this is that any subsidiary media set between VIII and IX is just going to be Ben becoming disillusioned with regards to his goals.

But again, it’s just a concern of mine, and some others here. I have confidence in J.J., and I’m sure like many, many people in the community at the moment (especially those that didn’t particularly enjoy TLJ), my concerns will be wiped away as soon as we get a teaser/teaser trailer :p

Don't worry, KK, JJ, Storygroup, Chris Terrio & Co. got this :)

Finding a satisfying ending now that there's a whole lot fewer characters and arcs to juggle shouldn't be too hard, I think. Of course, "satisfying" is subjective, and what someone finds to be fantastic might be mediocre to me, and vice versa, but apart from the impossibility of LFL managing to please everyone, I'm sure we'll get a strong, well-structured story in the end.

Sorry, but what?! I see nothing. I really need new glasses...

Could somebody be so very kind as to point out Finn, his Corelia outfit and that white shirt, please?

    So exciting :D

tilt your head so that the letters on the camera (vii ix) are in a straight line. then look in the blurry background.
you can see Finn standing, laughing, Chewie sitting to the left side.
and on the right, obscured by the camera, is someone in a white shirt sitting in the pilot's chair.

Because that was his first tweet. I'm 99.99% sure he started posting stuff because someone from Disney's marketing department thought it was a good idea (which it is.) And in terms of good behaviour:

Ugh so glad I don’t have twitter and never will. Never really understood that passion for snippets of “wisdom”...

But true, it’s a good PR move I suppose. Keeps us talking :)

@NinjaRen: your boy probably didn't want his picture taken. XD.
or he was at the bar with my boy, who is also out with them tonight (Oscar Isaac apparently had a benefit thing and they all went).

Has anyone got an idea where this is? UK I presume? Somewhere near Pinewood, I presume? I tried to zoom out to read the sign on the buss stop shed in the back, but the image was too grainy.

Pinewood is outside of London, so this most likely took place in London.

Mark Hamill showed up in Jimmy Kimmel Live yesterday with an early beard.

We can presume that his scènes will be shot more to the end of production.
