I’ll be surprised if the planet there are using the set in Jordan is anything other than Jakku

Here's a potential list of people who might be currently shooting in Jordan and a suggestion that Anthony Daniels' tweets about lunch might not be about lunch at all...

All that is highly speculative and circumstantial. Sorry if I am coming across as an old fart but I don't think it wise to play dot to dot with little or no fact. 'May' have seen folks is just gossip & trying to follow famous people without social media accounts will probably lead to false dawns either way . It's all very hypothetical, am taking that article as a lorry load of salt.

    But thanks for posting :)

Feels weird to have no idea what IX is all about. Maybe that's because VIII was easier to imagine. I don't mean leaks, but the fact that we knew we were going to get a lot of Ahch-To, some kind of training for Rey, we anticipated Luke's return to action etc. There was a lot of hints. The same goes for Rogue One (we knew the premise and how the story ends, of course) and Solo (Han meeting Chewie, Sabacc, Kessel Run were all very safe bets). This time, though, it's more of an unknown. But that's good, I guess.

I think it is good we don’t have much of a clue about IX. That is due to the fact that TLJ ended in such away that left JJ the ability to take IX in many directions. I know that some have a complaint about this but it did give JJ flexibility and did not pigeon hole him.

I just want to preface my theorising below with the point that i haven't read any IX news in close to a year, so apologies in advance if this has all been debunked. :D:p

This is just complete guess work on my part. I think JJ is going to set up another trilogy and we will get X XI XII in 7-10 years. Some story lines will end, but JJ will focus much more on "whats to come".

I think they will end with Rey starting a new academy (builds off TLJ ending with the kid and helps get around Daisy possibly wanting to end her role in IX) , Kylo likely dying (End of the Skywalkers / skywalker saga) and the "REAL" looming threat from the unknown region as the final "cliffhanger".

Again, complete guess, but I don't see JJ coming in to write a complete end to the saga movies. He is so much better at creating new mysteries for others to play with and closing off some of the more insignificant story lines.

I would actually be shocked if JJ wrote a scripted that tried to end every storyline in this saga. I'm more than happy for him to start creating new mysteries for the next generation of directors to play with in 7-10 years.

It appears that they are going to be marketing this as the end of the Skywalker saga. I think as far as the Skywalker storyline goes this will be the end. We know that sometime in the future Benioff and Weiss is going to be making a series of movies and we know Rian is going to have a trilogy in the future. If there is going to be an episode X and beyond it won’t be for awhile. I think IX will wrap up the saga as we currently know it. However, I can see some of our new characters storylines be left open just enough so that Lucasfilm can come back years from now after Daisy, John,Oscar and co. have done other stuff and create a new trilogy with these characters 10-15 years later if they do choose.

The other two trilogies have left loose ends. I see absolutely no reason why IX can't "wrap up the story" like ROTJ originally did for the original six, but leave enough loose ends to come in and tell more stories down the line. While I like the idea of IX being the "end of the saga", I think we have heard that lie one too many times. We know Disney likes that cold hard cash and that's something no brand will stop at to bring quality entertainment annually. I liked @Charlie07 's theory on setting it up to do with some Unknown Regions content. Also, can we take a second to note that a lot of these stories are tied to Batuu and Jakku? Coincidence? I don't think so. I think you can explore just enough into that with Episode IX while leaving the box open for the next storyteller to come in and play in that sandbox. There have been SOOOOOOO many canon fingers pointing that direction since 2014 that something is going on within the Empire and the First Order that shows that we have no idea what is truly lurking in the shadows of the galaxy we think we know. I honestly don't think we are even ready for what's in store and I believe the team over at Lucasfilm already has a rough general outline of what is coming for the 5-10 years following Episode IX. I thought I remember reading a while back sometime last year that Bob Iger, Kathleen Kennedy, and the team at Lucasfilm have basically roughly laid out the next 8-10 years in a rough sense. Then again, with the not so good looking box office of Solo: A Star Wars Story, plans have changed dramatically with the temporary freezing of the standalone films. So right now we don't have an exact understanding of what is to come after, but we do know the the Benioff and Weiss stuff is still on the way and it looks like we will be waiting until Celebration 2019 or 2020 before we hear any confirmation on Rian Johnson's trilogy. I think the latter year is more likely. I just see Celebration 2019 being Benioff and Weiss' chance to give a sneak peak with a lot of their main content debuting at Celebration 2020, and we won't see anything from Rian's meaty content until at least Celebration 2021 (WOW! That's a long time away...). What do you guys think? Am I insane or pretty much on the money with these predictions?

The thing that I am most curious about ep.IX is the gap between the story. How long it will pass since TLJ?

I am too. I think a time gap would be best for the story. I initially felt like there would be a larger time gap (3-5years) but know I’m not so sure. I have a gut feeling that the time gap is going to be less then a lot are expecting.

I'm going to guess at 4 years...

I wonder if there's going to be a 'rubber banding' of the timeline and let the story 'catch up' with the passage of real time and the aging of the actors.

In other words, FOUR years will have passed since the events of TFA, which of course means 4 years will have also passed since TLJ.
