One would think there would have to be... given, Vader appeared as a Sith in ANH and there really was only one other around, but the feeling was that he was a remnant of "an ancient religion" and he was "all that was left" We have not seen the Ren up till now, so they are either an emergent group (which would kinda be lonely to start a group of only one) or they are coming in from parts unknown, in which case if there aren't more of them in this film, we can expect to see them shortly

The flashback (or force vision, or whatever) will be happening... Kylo is obviously intent on killing off the last Jedi, which means means that if they aren't Sith outright, then the Jedi pissed off more than one force wielding group...

Well, thinking it through, he is a stormtrooper... one would assume that he throws the armour off at some point, but if he doesn't have another blaster handy, you wouldn't just throw the trooper one away

Why would Kylo be saying to Luke that together they can destroy the last Jedi?

That, I believe, is his stormtrooper id... I think where he says it, he is identifying himself when calling in... and I believe that Phasma uses it when ordering him to fire... potentially on something (or someone) he does not wish to fire on... which leads, I assume, to her asking for the weapon so it can be inspected

The FN could be random... or it could be his initials... Finn what? And what a hoot it would be if his last name were Naberrie

That would mean he is in a confrontation with Luke, which would blow the whole "one scene" thing... not that I am opposed to that at all

Had not really thought about it from that angle... That Finn wasn't a name, but part of his callsign... If he is a clone, and they simply added diversity to the clone pool, then... could be...

By the by... is the stock number of a Ford Focus...

One implies the end of an order, where the other refers to a specific person. While they may be embodied in the same person, the implication is that he is alone, and there are no other Jedi

 

Great post! Yes the TPM trailer was epic (possibly the greatest of all time????). If the next TFA trailer shows us half what we got in that trailer I'll be really pleased. However, the way things are going I'm expecting a 1 minute 30 second trailer full of slow reveal text, rehashed scenes we've seen already and about 15 seconds of new stuff that reveals very little. Oh well!

The problem with the TPM trailer was that it was too good. It raised everyone's expectations to stratospheric levels and when the film was released it was a kick in the teeth. Maybe the marketing team have learnt the lesson this time around and are trying to purposefully keep the hype lower. Maybe this will be to our benefit and our lower expectations will be rewarded this time with a better movie and a less disappointing experience.

 

I still remember watching TPM trailer in RealPlayer in Windows 98 over a dialup (phone line) connection for the first time.

Though I didn't see the movie in the theater.

 

I think they've gone for a Dominatrix voice . Puts me in mind of Irene Adler from Sherlock Holmes.

These TFA teasers were all about presenting the feels, & they sure delivered them. Just seeing people's reactions to the teasers & watching them cry... do you think it would have been the same if they just inserted random plot related dialogue? No. Having Luke use his line from ROTJ with the ethereal voice... god that gave me the chills to the bone. We needed these teasers to re-acquaint ourselves & to build up the anticipation even more. I mean I've been thinking about what the big 3 have been up to ever since I was 6, but that line *really* made me wonder!

I do agree somewhat with "left too much for people to wonder about and fear" but that might also be the point? Like what if Luke is left out of all the trailers... but then when he makes his appearance on the big screen everyone will just lose their minds? Can you imagine?

More than anything what bothers me is that we've seen glimpses of these characters through leaks, & I think it would have been far more powerful for JJ to release still images of the characters before the leaks were allowed to happen. Perhaps the absence of this imagery was necessary as not to spoil some major plot point... I mean we are a ravenous fan base. With the detective work done from set photos fans were able to discover some crazy things (like the storm trooper helmets showing a reflection of the skylights above... which some fan pointed out, you could see the actual building on google maps because the skylights lined up with what could be seen in the helmet! Damn!).

But perhaps he's waiting for the main trailer to divulge some of the new characters or Luke/ Leia reveals. It's possible that Maz might be saved for the film itself... in ESB no one had any idea Yoda would be in the film... that was a complete surprise to the audience.

But the trailer is coming... and when we have it, we'll have something like 3 to four minutes of TFA when counting both teasers. It's substantial!

Yes that bothers me as well, the dialogue from toys being heard before I could hear the dialogue in the film. Though I sure got the chills hearing phasma & Ren speak!

I think the marketing of this film is like an impossible task... I'm sure JJ wouldn't have wanted that dialogue to be heard, but it's like... how do you coordinate such a massive franchise. Disney wants their money & I don't think they'll wait to see what JJ thinks about it before they pursue it :/

One thing I should mention (going back to the feels again)... we all had different expectations as to what we'd see in the first teaser. Starting out with very quick, simple visual elements was very clever... it was like a "reboot" for our expectations. Had they blown their wad on that... then people might have been disappointed because they saw the state of the galaxy differently. With establishing these very simple looks, it helped us readjust to what JJ was going for with TFA. & it's all we really needed... just enough to establish expectations & to get the chills in the process

If the teaser had just blasted us with images of Jedi fighting & humongous battles, then I think there would have been a lot of people going to the hospital that day. (from cardiac arrest)

(aside from whatever people got trampled on black friday sales)

 

The sounds from the electronic toys are not taken from the movie.

They were recorded by the actors specifically for these toys.

These lines will be spoken in the film, but take the way they sound with a grain of salt.

I promise you Kylo and Phasma are going to sound much more intimidating in the movie.

 

Yes, agree 100%! As I've said on several occasions on these forums the moment that Luke turns up will be the moment that the majority of the audience take with them from this movie. I expect that he'll turn up after Han has been killed and Finn and Rey have been taken out by Kylo Ren. All will look hopeless and Kylo will move in for the kill. But this time Luke will appear from nowhere and the cinema will literally explode with relief and joy at seeing Tatooine's finest on screen once more. If done properly this could be a really defining moment for Star Wars and one of those moments that is referenced in popular culture for years to come.

The recent trailer/spoiler/few seconds of bliss was released on Instagram... did you ever stop to wonder why?

People are hacking on the house of the mouse for their marketing plan, but it's pretty engaged... the Instagram move was to broaden the audience base, and get them tied in to their social media efforts. It seems to have worked, their Instagram account has 1.6m followers now... barely a drop in the bucket of their audience, and only 1/20th of Kim Kardashian, but an increase for them on that front. The effort is to begin pulling people in from as many angles as possible, and to cross pollinate their media streams. Getting grown people not only interested, but actively seeking a doll is a pretty significant move...

I wouldn't say that it is specifically not mentioned here...
