It's a bit late for that... costumes and sets are already finalised and in production.

Just did a search for Iceland...turned up nothing in this forum.

Space Bear Industries is Episode VIII. Lunak Heavy Industries is Rogue One.

Space Bear has been referenced in connection to filming in Iceland several months ago. Anyone know anything more?

Episode VII was focused group to death. I enjoyed it a lot but still, not many risks.

I'd think that if that were the case... it would have taken them a bit longer to make it.
The movie was made in a little under 3 years... with the last year of that being post-production.

What Magnar is saying makes me wonder (and this is speculation on my behalf, but...) if this would be linked to the fact that some of the scenes are not filmed in Ireland (the Heritage Protection Law and migrating birds, you recall?). If you look at the pictures that are available on Pinterest, the area looks a bit like Ireland. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/120752833736794732/

(well, minus the glaciers and hot springs.)

So it could be related to Luke's planet?

You mean that same shot that appeared in the trailer? I'm pretty sure we saw a behind the scenes shot of that at pinewood.

I'm thinking that what they did was a composite shot - the sort of thing they did in the Prequel Trilogy with many of the planets. My guess is that they filmed Mark Hamill in front of a green screen and then placed the cave interior from the Vietnam shoot into the shot. It'd explain why no actors were present there.

I don't know... I am really starting to doubt this whole baby girl thing. Granted, at some childish level I do wish there was that kind of a connection... just for the sake of making it more predictable and familiar. At the same time, I'm starting to think more and more that Rey is not related to Luke. Ah, well, we'll find out soon enough: in 1,5 years, right?

Speaking of which: does anyone know if they've started filming yet?

Filming is to resume later this month. There should be a formal announcement when it starts.

I read from MSW that they have rebuild the set in Pinewood studios (http://www.irishexaminer.com/examvi...kellig-replica-at-pinewood-studio-374190.html). Of course, this must be taken with a pinch of salt but still...

"The Skellig Michael sets have been built and in some cases recreated at Pinewood. The location of the set at Pinewood is the same place they filmed the Jakku village scenes for The Force Awakens. Filming at Skellig Michael was just too complicated for environmental reasons. Migrating birds have more power than any corporation over that isle."

I don't know if this would mean that they wouldn't return to Skellig but based on Irish internet publication this could be possible. Some online publications were discussing this, using as their primary source MSW, but also releasing additional information:

"When asked about the unconfirmed reports, Pinewood Studios declined to comment and referred the question to Lucasfilm. At the time of printing, Lucasfilm had not yet responded to this paper’s query. However, documents previously released under the Freedom of Information Act revealed producers had indeed sought permission to create moulds of beehive huts on the island.

Permission to apply a silicon gauze to one of the huts was refused by the Office of Public Works (OPW). Producers were advised instead to create a 3D laser scan. A spokesperson from the OPW confirmed that the Star Wars crew did not take moulds on the island. The office also said they were unaware of any plans to return to the island for Star Wars filming."

It's strange. I assumed they already got all that they wanted back in september? So now they are going back and they also replicated the set in pinewood?
