I used , it was still a talking point instead of set in stone. Disney, like all studios, sets dates that are always subject to change. Disney is taking their $4 BILLION Abrams really seriously and would rather move around dates rather than force directors and producers to strict dates. That being said, Disneh released those dates as new releases that haven't been announced. As well as edited dates.

Gonna go on record now and say I reject the phrase "Sequel Prequel" in it's entirety. ;)

based on my knowledge and what information we all have, Disney bought Lucasfilm to further their interests and make more money. Bob Iger has direct involvement in the direct ST and a little involvement in the spinoffs. The jist is that Lucasfilm, like Marvel, operates as its own entity with minimal input, aside from Iger and a few execs.

Oh. And one thing about BB-8, in "The Clone Wars" tv series, Obi-Wan Kenobi tells Anakin that Astromech Droids are "A dime a dozen..." What fate does this spell for Artoo and BB-8?
    ...at least in The ST.

There are 30 years of material only confined to "a galaxy". So I'm sure they will cook up something...

Also a lot of people think this story HAS to be told in trilogy. I honestly think that Disney could easily make 5 Star Wars movies out of this saga. If it meant quality movies instead of cramming things together, I'd be all for it.

I wouldn't call it a awakening, it just kept the franchise long enough alive, just in time for the release of the OT Special Edition in 97'.

No offense, but I wouldn't consider the special editions of '97 in the spirit of "keeping them alive." The true awakening was in '99.

As much as I love SW, I'm not prepared to say 2015 is the awakening. It's like :
    '77: Palapatine's Awakening
    '99: Vader's Awakening
    '15: SOMEONE'S AWAKENING.

I'm going to Virginia to see it with my dad and brothers. Best Christmas present my large nerd family could ask for.

I am absolutely unsurprised that this kind of Star Wars fan is already coming to exist - the kind that won't accept anything but the OT, forever and ever, in spite of the addition of new media. PT disappointment I can understand - though I don't agree with it - but this kind of pessimism is the plague that will encompass the fandom in the coming years.

I wrote a big long post in support of what you wrote, but it's not necessary. Your observation is spot on.

I agree, the PT wasn't that bad. I actually like certain things about the prequels, not to mention there was actually some good acting in it. I really liked Darth Maul man...
It is a part of the SAGA

Of course we will have fans like this, what I find particularly obnoxious about this guy is his judgement before even seeing the film. Although any fandom as large as Star Wars is bound to have its share of Negative Nancys in the ranks. I see it all the time in other fandoms, the various comic book fandoms in particular seems to have more than their fair share. I tend to filter those people out pretty easily. I'm perfectly fine with people voicing valid concerns and complaints about franchises I love(I'm not afraid to point out problems with the things I love either), but people like the author of that article are best ignored.

Nearly as obnoxious though are those who defend every aspect of a franchise just because it bears the name Star Wars(or Star Trek, Marvel, etc.). Part of the reason that I love these forums is because the majority of the posters here are capable of actual objective discussion about Star Wars, acknowledging both the good and the bad.

My father, who was an eternal optimist (as well as a SW fan), used to refer to a person with that level of pessimism
and negativity as "A turd in the swimming pool of life".

His advice was to steer clear of them, and give them a wide berth lest they taint you with their ingrained foulness.
