I didn't see it when it first came out- I went on a date to go see Sherlock Holmes with RDJ. I didn't see it until years later, after the hype died down... and I was fully underwhelmed. Derivative plot, loads of unfortunate implications, cartoony CGI, and flora/fauna designs that were very lazy and biologically implausible.

Yes, no talk yet of re-shoots. I'm hoping there aren't any even though with modern filmmaking there usually are.

I disagree with you there. James Cameron's been insistent that writing the sequels has been the biggest roadblock to making the film past the technology needed to make them, and since he's done with the scripts and technology has sufficiently advanced, the timing should line up provided that filming starts this Summer like Cameron keeps motioning like its going to - plus, with Avatar Land completed, the momentum for Fox to get the movie made is there. Filming for the first one took a little under two months, to my understanding - and the four movies are going to be filmed all at once in what I presume will take about a year in total.

While Avatar 2 sure isn't going to make a 2018 release date, it's probable that a 2019 release date is on the cards.

Not to be a dick, but... What was that about the cast list taking so long?

    I jest of course.

I'm going to have to admit I got my years mixed up. I wrote 2019 but was somehow thinking it was only 22 months away for Avatar, but 34 months for EIX

They have 2.5 years to get Avatar 2 ready for December 2019 release and that's enough time, if the wheels are already turning. I'm interested to see if they do it Lord of the Rings style or what. It's kind of animated movie, kind of not.

Anyway, it will be interesting to see if either side blinks:

The sequel to the biggest movie ever and the conclusion (at least for now) to the most successful set of films ever made. It will almost certainly be the last time we see an alive Luke (not saying he dies on screen), definitely the last for Leia, and maybe for Finn or Poe, and very possibly Kylo Ren.

If Han Solo moves to Christmas 2018, could we see EIX moved to May 2020.....

Anyway, I'm really sick of this TLJ drought. I cannot believe how tight the LFL game has been this time around.

I've given up seeing any footage (and with only 8 months to go before the premiere, I'll be flabbergasted if they don't release the BTS video and a two-minute teaser to the world at SWC) before BTS, but I'm starting to wonder if they will even release any official production photos before SWC.

    Where did everyone's sources go?

I'm of the opinion that Disney intentionally leaked much of what we had for TFA in order to create hype and momentum among the die hards so that they would pass that enthusiasm along to the general culture. That isn't necessary now and so they are keeping it under wraps.

    That's 7 people.

At least 5 of which had already been announced.

Have they given Woody's character's name? I know there was strong speculation, but whatever.

Do we have all the character names for those people, you know, apart the three we've all known for nearly 40 years?

It's a cute picture, but it's not Glengarry Glenross, there will be more than 7 people in the film.

Gleeson looked like he was in a hostage video every time they asked him about TFA, he couldn't even confirm he was in it for months.
He said his character's name at SDCC, and I swear he looked at JJ like he'd just revealed the launch codes for our ICBMs.

I know this is good-natured teasing, but we don't even know who BDT is playing in TLJ.

We don't have a cast list for TLJ

(when I say cast list, I mean cast and their character name, which is what that usually refers to).

A cast photo (out of costume) is a fun promo thing this early in a shoot.

But most of it's old news.

Fan entitlement when it comes to information is a tricky thing, and I don't feel like they "owe us" per se.
I just find the current competition between directors and production companies/studios to see who can release the least information to be idiotic.

The DCEU division of Warner Bros. of course is inept and spoiled 98% of BvSuperman well in advance of its release. That's what needs to be avoided, but there's a lot of room between revealing Doomsday is the big bad 7 months before the release and not releasing the title of the movie until you're 10 months out, even though filming was completed over 6 months beforehand.

Movies aren't the CIA, and I just think LFL's approach is silly.

I can tell you that there were definitely leaks that they didn't want out there, period. Probably a few deliberate leaks for sure, but most of that stuff did not sit well with the Mouse.

    tidbit of info.

according to latest MSW podcast (he's 95% sure), the reason tom hardy doesn't seem to know that finn is a traitor is due to a cover up by the FO. Starkiller forces knew about it and hence why he was called 'traitor' at maz's castle. But outside that they are covering it up to the wider organisation.

MSW suggest that's why Finn can easily get on the star destroyer because for all they know he's actually received a promotion.

If they did that, then wouldnt that make it so much easier for finn and the resistance to destroy the first order?

Fascist/totalitarian governments and armies aren't always logical, and they tend to prefer hiding bad news rather than admit someone defected by their own choice.

Also, when starkiller base was destroyed, I don't think the headline on the first page of the briefer to the rest of the FO about it's destruction was "random foot soldier defected and we're not sure what happened to him."

Phasma didn't see him leave, and even if Kylo noticed him, all he saw was a heavily injured, unconscious Finn laying in the snow.
