No but the symbol on the book seen in the trailer is the symbol of the Jedi Order, not the Grey Jedi. He just had a need to sort things out.

No person is infallible, but I'd say he has much more Star Wars authority than the average Joe. And, while he won't participate in fan theories as to not stop them or crush them, he will comment on something that is false or, on a rare occasion, when he feels strongly about something - like when he felt the need to say that Han and Leia were not bad parents.

I think the misconception has to do with this image making the rounds:

The symbol in the middle is the standard Jedi Order one, whereas the one on the Light Side had to do with the Jedi Order of the Old Republic. There is no "Grey Jedi Order" that would necessitate a symbol.

I STILL dont understand why after all this time a grey Jedi is a thing. There's no such thing as a grey Jedi. If you're grey then your eyes just a force user.

So, I've finally seen "The Bridge on the River Kwai" and I must say I'm a bit disappointed. Maybe it has to do with the fact that the TV channel that aired it had a copy of the film in an awfully low resolution or that they had an Italian (!) dub of the film with Polish voice-over over it, so it wasn't definitely the best possible version of the film. Anyway, it tells a story of a British division commanded by Colonel Nicholson (played by Alec Guiness) that is caught by Japanese soldiers in the Indochina and is sent to a POW camp controlled by Colonel Saito (Sessue Hayakawa.) Saito is tasked with building the titular railway bridge over the river Kwai and makes the Brits build it. He also commands British officers to help in the construction and despite initial Nicholson's opposition to that idea he embraces this project wholeheartidly and makes it his opus magnum. In the meantime, an American soldier named Shears (william Holden) escapes the camp and is later intercepted by the British forces who make him a part of a group tasked with a destruction of the bridge despite his desire to move away from the frontline.

Two potential storylines that could be drawn from this film is the plotline revolving Shears and the other one revolving relationship between Saito and Nicholson. Especially after SW Celebration it's pretty clear that Finn will go through a similar arc to Shears - he will have to perform some kind of a task as he was behind enemy lines but he's not sure if he's up to it and if he still wants to fight in the war. There's also a rookie in Shears' team that could bear some similarities to Rose. The other plotline - Saito-Nicholson relationship may serve as an inspiration for how will Laura Dern's character interact with Leia. One of them being initially beaten-down and not respected by the other but in the end her and her people's involvement into the fight with the First Order, similarly to how Nicholson's position changed across the film. The only question is which one would be Nicholson and which one Saito, as both characters' organisations inflicted heavy losses at the end of TFA - New Republic with destruction of Hosnian Prime and the Resistance with the battle over Starkiller Base.

Overall, I can say that all seven films mentioned by Rian are worth checking out, so go and give them a shot.

i thought the same, but pablo even clarified this. Ahsoka is just Ahsoka, they don't use any "force" terminology with characters that aren't jedi or sith.

Exactly my thoughts too...but, then again, you could call literally anyone by their names.

"Vader was seduced by the dark side of the Force."
    "The Force?"
"The Force is what gives a Jedi his power. It's an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us, it penetrates us, it binds the galaxy together."

I think Old Ben would call BS on Pablo and Disney and the "new direction".

There's the Force. The good guys who use it are the Jedi. Then there's bad guys who use it who are part of the "darkside" or "sith lords".

And then there's everybody else who doesn't have it or even believe in it. (See Solo, Han.)

I know they are changing canon but it's still a giant retcon to me...Ashoka would in effect be a non-practicing Jedi. Or like priest who left the church. They still believe, just not in the organized institution anymore.

But I digress...it's just my own personal beef with how StarWars "used to be" and how they change stuff.

In my mind, Maul died in the generator room on Theed. Clone Wars cartoons (that 90% of the film goers didn't see) be damned!

yeah ashoka seems to practice the jedi traditions but she seems to have grown in her own terms since TCW. I also dont like how theyre retconning elements for literaly no reason but to make their own canon. But you're only ni the grey once you stop practicing from a certain order, if that makes any sense...so in the literal sense of the term, ashoka is a grey force user, but is Luke? Is Rey? Rey doesnt even practice the force so she isnt even in the grey. Luke, if what he says is true in TLJ, will simply exist and not a practicing force user which would hardly clarify him as being in the grey.

    Ashoka meets Vader and:

Vader: Revenge is not the Jedi way
    Ashoka: I'm not Jedi.

    They fight. She... dies. (sorry)
And even if she didn't die, she did not reedem Vader. Right?

    Luke meets Vader
"I'm a jedi, like my father before me"
    He doesn't fight Vader.
    He survives and redeems Vader.

So, I don't think Ashoka is a Grey Jedi (because I don't think Grey is a side of the force or the force in balance).
But let's say she is, given that: would you say grey is the way?
