I was aware of that interview.
That is indeed one of the thing that makes me suspicious.
Not that I'm sold on it, just a feeling...
But I won't be surprised if we will get some big hints, in act I and II, about Rey's parentes.
Only to find out in the end that the right answer about Rey is another one..
But again whatever it is it cannot be a twist. It would be an answer to something we are speculating about form December 2015.
I suspect, the real twist will be something else.
    Complitelly unespected.

what really worries me, is that they keep using the term 'address'. "Rey's parentage will be addressed".

not in a million years does that mean that we will find out who Rey's parents are in TLJ.
The speculation and debate has been a lot of fun... but dang it, we just need to know who her bloody parents are now.

I agree with you @lealt. I wonder if they have let the Rey family mystery escalate just to keep us from talking about where the real twists may come from?

Speaking of Lando, while I'm OK with him not being in TFA, does anyone find it out that his absence isn't being addressed. No Lando in TFA or TLJ. It's like he's being completely ignored. Why? Did BDW do something to get blacklisted?

He did reprise his role in the Lego Movie, kinda. Maybe he feels he is too old act now being eighty years of age. He could have had a short cameo or something. What's the deal with Cloud City these days? I take it it's not under Imperial rule anymore after RotJ. Maybe Lando is busy with his people while ST is on going. Shame though, he's a great character.

I'm with you. Lando is such an easy character to write into any situation so I don't buy it's because of the story. I also don't buy it's because he can't act or looks too old. How do we have a Casino/Gambing planet and no Lando????

Well, his relations with Lucasfilm seem to be good, so that must be something different. Besides, is he really needed? Putting him into the battle of Endor was already a bit of a stretch and the only situation in which his presence would be justified in Episode VIII is Han Solo's memorial service, if it happens on screen. Otherwise, his ties with the Skywalker family are too weak to justify his appearance.

Umm, he was literally the only character outside of Luke, Han, Leia and the droids (and random Ewoks) in the end celebration photo in ROTJ. I would imagine he would be living his life and called upon as an old friend. Heck, Nien Nunb was featured in TFA!!!!

Friends or a friend? Just because Lando and Han were friends, it doesn't mean that he shared a similar bond with Leia and especially Luke. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only time when Luke directly spoke with Lando was at the end of TESB. And since you brought the final scene in ROTJ, I rewatched it and noticed something important. When Lando comes, he greets with Han and Chewie and doesn't go to Leia (Luke comes later.) Similarly, Luke greets Han, Leia and Wedge but not Lando (and not Chewie, #justiceforWookiees.) I'm pretty sure that in the years after the battle of Endor Luke and Lando knew of each other but didn't consider themselves as friends.

But what about Leia, you may ask? Leia and Han were married, so it means that they obviously spent a lot of time together. This probably also means that they shared some acquaintances, maybe even friends. However, just because a person is your husband's best friend doesn't automatically make him/her your best friend, too. That seems to be the case with Leia and Lando. They know each other and respect one another but share much in common, except for Han.

There's some new leak about Gannis Ducain, that he is connected to Han Solo somehow. Maybe he will reveal some info on Lando, if he knows him or has fought with him.

I think Luke and Lando had a closer relationship than you may be giving them credit for. I mean after all, Luke nods to Lando on the sand skiff above the Sarlacc Pit...which means they must have communicated and formulated a plan with each other prior to Luke's arrival. I know it was to rescue a mutual friend in Han but I think they were friends.

My dream Lando scene would be him quietly stealing the Falcon while Chewy and R2 are with Luke on Ahch-To. As he takes off he yells, HAN'S DEAD SHE'S MINE AGAIN!!!! YEEHAW!!!! :D

I mentioned the Lando thing in another thread, and BDW said in one interview, "If they asked for me, I wouldn't say no." But I've given up arguing he should show up, since it doesn't look like it's gonna happen. I'd be happy if it did, but it doesn't look like Lucasfilm wants it to or feels like it needs to.

Sure it's still a rumour about Del Toro playing Ducain, but this Gannis Ducain character is confirmed as a previous owner/thief of the Millennium Falcon. That's the tie were trying to get with Lando.
