Rogue One is the smoke screen. RO is important to disney, but not of primary importance. They'll do anything to keep VIII as much of a secret as they can.

 

This... if you know anything about how Disney operates, they love the bread crumb string you along for a long time tactic. Its what allows them to intertwine different elements from different sources over time, making you the consumer ultimately spend more. It IS what they do after all

 

Yeah, I know, but now it is different. Disney is not really that happy with the anthology plans, they've planned two movies but really wish to see whether it is succesful, it's not of primary importance to them. The sequel trilogy is of pivotal importance especially for the future, they want to show that Disney's appropriation of Star Wars is about more than just making money and that it is also an artistic endavour which is of great cultural importance especially for Disney. They want to show Star Wars is in good hands and that it still has that same heart. Otherwise they would alienate the fans for any other plans they have after the sequels. They really want those sequels to stand out and be special, to be valued by critics and audience alike. That's why I seriously think Rogue One will have next to no reveals about Episode VIII or tie-ins. They know that it should be possible to view the entirety of the saga without having to watch any other SW movies or related media products.

 

They've also already said that the Anthologies will be mostly stand-alone. I don't think that they're "unhappy" with the Anthology plans, they're just being somewhat cautious for now (since it's never been tried before with SW films).

 

Technically it's been tried with TCW by I can see Anthology being of extreme importance to them in the sense that they're dumping money and are being cautiously optimistic...someone made thread about the optimism around the potential success of R1 and what would happen if it's successful and I believe they'd be given a much bigger budget .

 

Some ppl say that studios only care about the money...and that's it. While that is true from a certain point of view, I don't think all studios are the same. Disney and Lucasfilm, i have hope that SW is in good hands. If it wasn't, then the movies would be utterly garbage to the point no one would want to go see em and sw will fade. I don't want that. I feel Disney is playing it safe...at least for now. I like it even though there are so many possibilities they can take sw. Disney cares about profit yes, but as long as the movies are well done and generate new fans alike, then it's all I care about. I want to enjoy SW for as much as I can for as long as I live...

 

Don't forget that this is before any incentives which I'm sure SW is getting for shooting here .

Well the end game is always money because this is a business at the end of the day so they can continue to make movies..:just because they need to financially care about the movie doesn't necessarily mean that the movie will be garbage .

 

Not to say I have high expectations for SW now that I did for the prequels...I learned my lesson. I just want to enjoy the films as they are, and still have fun poking at it of what I enjoy, like and not like...you know...and not let the little trolls tell me otherwise. lols. I am not here to cause rifts with other fans, I am here for the fun of discussing all things Star Wars cause I can't do that IRL all too much.

 

As do I, your opinions are welcome if trolls want to be trolls that's their choice.

I go to work everyday excited knowing that while I'm there new Star Wars scenes are likely being filmed

 

I know but starting filming doesn't really tell us much as we hoped i'm sure Luke & Rey will want to get their scene out of the way with MH in the UK right now so I think that's where the filming starts, I'm working today as well,
