When parts of the fanbase are now so toxic that Luke(Mark) feels bad for speaking. FFS, theres some parts of the fanbase need to have a good hard look at themselves.

 

Oh just wait. Now those people are going to say Disney is making him come out and say this which of course is ridiculous and stupid but nonetheless likely going to occur.

 

Hamill just found out out that he will make the highest per second screen time salary in the history of cinema for his guaranteed 3 minutes and 30 seconds of force ghost dialogue in Episode IX.

(Before someone blows up on me...this is HUMOR. I loved TLJ and Hamill's portrayal and I think he has been very gracious towards RJ)

 

are you implying Mark has choice? Rian is the director AND writer. Luke doesn't have a choice, they just paid him insert ridiculous amount to comeback and do them (after Harrison agreed, of course). i can completely see how people come to the conclusion that Disney has gotten in Mark's ear. he has had numerous interviews, both prior to the film and after, where he states that he didnt like this interpretation of Luke. thats the truth. even in his apologies, hes talking about creative differences. THAT's the truth, not the spin you (and others) put on it. even if Mark were to come out and publicly declare his undying love for this Luke Skywalker, i would take that as fabricated lie. hes come out and said what he said (despite knowing at the time, that Disney and all fans that viewed it, would take it a certain way). and theres a sizable chunk of fans that agree with him. its as simple as that.
and thats okay.

This is a recording of the Q&A session for The Last Jedi after it was screened for members of the Producers Guild of America and this particular clip is very symptomatic of why some people may be unhappy with the film and why filmmaking community responded to it so positively.

PS. Rian also promises no more Death Stars in his new trilogy.

 

Mark summed it up best when he said (around the 25:20 mark), and I paraphrase: "Watching it for the first time felt like being hit by a truck. I didn't know how to react. Everytime I've seen it since, though, feels like I could see this thing 20 times and discover new things... it's just so rich and challenging in so many ways... it's got everything you want."

Exactly how I felt. First time was a "woah, what just happened!?" .... the second and third viewings allowed me to truly appreciate the amazingness of the film.

I think a lot of the people that don't like the film and refuse to rewatch it, would benefit HUGELY from a second screening.

 

I'll admit, I wanted to see Grand Master Jedi Luke Skywalker in TLJ spank Kylo, KOR, and the FO; however, my personal experiences in life made me accept the way RJ went with Luke. Films are subjective so I understand if you dislike TLJ thats fine.

This is not going to go the way you think, echoes... this will begin to make things right... I do think MH bolstered fandom to go on a tangent, but MH came out tried to make things right... all this damage will only spiral, if SOLO is also not well received.

Fandom needs to take a step back, and think. All this damage will destroy future films... remember the dark times? when there were no Star Wars films, only EU books that George didn't consider canon... anyway i hope were not heading toward that route. Hoping for critically and financially successful Star Wars films going forward.

 

Remember the dark times? If anything this is the dark times. It's like resuscitating someone and murdering them again for the sake of it. Disney has done no good for star wars. It's made a shed load of money but it's lost a lot more than that. The sequels are a shell with a fancy new branding, that is all. I never wanted to dislike TLJ that was the last thing on my mind. But what we got, nah, not having that. It needs an exorcism, it's full of bile. It's like some bs off of reddit.

 

There r also others who r in denial. I am wondering what it will take 4 theses to say "it was a bad movie" or "not the best".

How about Porgs flying the Falcon? Or a military leader wearing clown looking makeup? Will they dislike it then?
