    Ok, I must admit that makes some sense. However, it would still mean they spring a surprise conflict in the final chapter of the trilogy, which is not what you do, really.

    I think you could be right here . Luke said on Crait TLJ “ the war is just beginning “ and I thought it was strange thing to say considering it’s Star Wars and empire /first order vs resistance/rebellion is the pattern and the norm but it would make complete sense if the war he was talking about was “ the war to end all wars “ like John Boyega has been stating .

    Spoilers below concerning the latest Making Star Wars rumors

    I think there's a lot of merit to the idea of a threat from "the Beyond." Canon has been really hinting at something in unknown space. Snoke's origins--from Unknown Space--have yet to be revealed. Plus, there are quite a few little connections between the Sequel Trilogy and the Yuuzhan Vong saga from Legends. Both involve threats from unknown parts of space. In both stories, an older Leia tries and fails to warn the New Republic of the mounting threat. Snoke has a "praetorian guard," the Yuuzhan Vong invasion begins with "praetorate vong."
