    If you're referring to the express.co.uk "leak" a few days ago, they mentions Mike Zeroh as their source. MZ lies for a living, selling shocking headlines for click-bait revenue. He's just making things up.

    I’ve been thinking a bit about the possible appearance of Anakin Skywalker in IX. Anakin’s legacy clearly looms large over the Sequel Trilogy. We know he can appear to the living as a Force Ghost, so it wouldn’t surprise me if he appears in episode IX. I am reasonably confident that we won’t be seeing Hayden Christensen in the film, so that raises the question of how he would be depicted, if at all. My preference would be to see him portrayed in IX by Sebastian Shaw, but he passed away years ago. Perhaps his rendition of Anakin could be digitally recreated, along he lines of how Peter Cushing reprised the role of Tarkin in “Rogue One.”

    Another approach that I would love to see would be to have Jake Lloyd reprise the role of an aged Anakin. That would be an interesting way of bringing the saga full-circle for me.

    It’s essentially a moot point now, but two legitimate reasons why a filmmaker could have chosen Shaw at this point is that he was a more seasoned and accomplished actor, and his presence would “fix” the second most controversial decision in the second special edition after Greedo shooting first. Fans are clearly polarized on this topic, so it’s a very likely reason why we won’t be seeing Anakin portrayed in IX.

    Using Shaw instead of Hayden would make alot more people angry than the other way around IMO. If Obi-Wan appears, then they would also use McGregor and not Sir Guinness.

    Not to bring up the elephant in the room, but Shaw passed away in 94. I suppose they could Tarkin him, but for what would inevitably be such a small role... what would be the point? Especially considering that canon it's portrayed by Hayden. It's one of the special edition changes that makes sense.

    I thought it was very effective how Abrams used both McGregor and Guinness to portray Kenobi in VII’s forceback scene.
