I got vibes that Holdo and Leia were more than friends in TLJ. That after Han left, Leia became close to someone else who believes in the cause and the Force.

I recommend a rewatch of their farewell on the bridge.

Its not unreasonable, Han shut himself off and went smuggling and Leia’s only relative Luke was isolated somewhere she couldn’t find, and her son Ben is a new Vader. Leia really bears with a lot of sorrow and loss of all the characters. I hope TRoS gives us a good finale with her and that she finds a measure of peace after a lifetime of war and tragedy. I suppose thise wishes are for Carrie too, who like Leia had many battles to face and sorrows to bear.

Naomi Ackie: "Luckily, there’s so much time between knowing that you’re doing [the film], preparing for it, filming it, editing and reshoots. You have so much time to contemplate all of that [pressure] stuff. But at this point I feel like I’m in a good place, I’m ready for people to see it. And, hey, I think it’s gonna be great. If people don’t like it, they don’t like it. And if they don’t like me, that’s alright." (November 7, 2019)

    Naomi Ackie:
"I think there are moments in [Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker] that really encapsulate what the whole saga has been about, and there are some people that leave it that might feel like they’ve got everything they wanted but there might still be more questions, and that’s the whole point. The story continues. I think I will feel like it’s been a long time coming and I’ll feel like a conclusion to what has been a brilliant saga." (November 14, 2019)

Holdo and Leia are friends going back before the events of ANH. Holdo was introduced in the Claudia Gray Leia novel when they were teenagers on Alderaan. Although Holdo is new to us in TLJ, they have been friends for a long time and have been fighting for the same cause for years

Naomi Ackie: “[I had to learn these certain skills] because Jannah is a warrior who rides around on an orbak. Horses were used to help build the shape of the creatures, so it was important for me to learn to ride. It sucks [laughs] because I feel like I say the same things, but her skills help round out the team and her backstory helps you realize why she’s fighting.” (November 15, 2019)

Naomi Ackie: (3:40) “Yeah, there’s that rumor [that I’m playing Lando Calrissian’s daughter].” “[Billy Dee]’s great, isn’t he?” “(gestures) Deflect. Deflect. Deflect.” “There’s so many things I know. I just know all the things. So it’s actually…it’s easier to not say anything. Like it’s actually easier because I just I can’t talk anything about [the role or movie].” “Yeah this is a thing if I start [saying] with a thing it’s pulling a thread…” “When [the movie] comes out [I can reveal everything]. (laughs)” “[For the film promotional purpose] at first it was like it was just, ‘This girl Naomi Ackie is playing a part in Star Wars’ and then they were like okay now you can say your [character] name and then they were like now you can say she’s a goodie.” (laughs at Lando’s daughter suggestion)” (November 16, 2019)

J.J. stays true to the mystery box even when asked what surprised him most in what Rian did. Except for surprised how dark Luke was he never really goes into detail. I liked his answers really how it was unpredictable. I liked that too about TLJ.

Colin Trevorrow: "I’m not sure anyone who chooses the creative life should expect things. But I’m grateful to JJ [Abrams] for embracing some of our ideas [for Episode IX]. It’s exciting that fans will get to see the moments that felt essential to all of us." "Bringing back the Emperor was an idea JJ brought to the table when he came on board. It’s honestly something I never considered. I commend him for it. This was a tough story to unlock, and he found the key." "That’s not my place [my specific work on the Episode IX script], especially right now. I know how hard this crew has worked over the past two years, a lot of them are working with us now on Jurassic. I want to support them as they put this film out into the world. In the end, I’m just proud to have my name in space." "I just asked Rian [Johnson] if he could include a little moment where Rey and Poe meet for the first time. They’re such beloved characters, it felt right for them to have some history in the next movie. I thought the way he did it was perfect." (November 22, 2019) (archive)

Yeah that one is cool but why does Lando look like he is having stomach issues in the other one?

The plot thickens... I thought Palpatine coming back was part of the plan all along?

A lot of us noticed that quote. I doubt very seriously it was planned all along when Trevorrow never considered it. That notwithstanding, I am honestly hard pressed to think of what they could do in this movie, where I will walk out of it at the end and feel like, "yeah, this really wraps up the whole story" a story I've been watching since 1977. Even bringing back Palpatine doesn't feel like it will do it (in part because what I speculate for TRoS appears to have almost no roots in the previous 2 movies, guess we'll have to see)

The easiest way to bring Palyps back and no monkey with the OT is he is a Sith Spirit attached to a shrine (throne) like Darth Banw in Clone Wars Season 6. Otherwise ROTJ will be trivialized if Palpatine survived being tossed into the reactor.
