A few more from the Visual Dictionary, originally posted on Twitter... apparently they don't want to share any more for fear of spoiling the movie...

Star Wars - Rise of Skywalker first impressions (Spoiler Free)

    1. I Think this might be the the weakest sequel movie of the three (Force Awakens looked a lot like a rehash of the Original Trilogy, Last Jedi was a poor story with some very strong sequences, but in Rise of Skywalker we get a very complicated/ambicious plotline with little to ad to the overall story)
    2. Visually the movie is gorgeous (Photography, Editing, Visual Effects, Sound Effects, everything sounds great just like in The Force Awakens)
    3. This is Rey Movie (HUGE performance by Daisy and this time around we fell her growing in the movie scene by scene)
    4. Palpatine's Return is OK (Not perfect cause explanations and development were needed but a very strong option)
    5. Where is ANAKIN SKYWALKER? (Star Wars is the story of Fall and Redemption of Anakin Skywalker, you can't close the entire saga without a very strong presence of the main guy)
    6. I believe this movie will deliver haters fuell for years and it looks like it might calm down Disney Star Wars
    7. Do we needed this sequel trilogy? Probably not but it brings us Kylo Ren/Ben Solo, Star Wars greatest character in the last years (just put to sleep in this movie). Overall i consider Rise of Skywalker felt like an Avengers Movie, it's technically very well made, it's about fan favorite characters, it's entertainment, it has romance drama and action but the story after the first buzz feels a little bit short for the tremendous potential they could have been, but sometimes it might just be a simple case of over exposure and super antecipation from dedicated fans that love to see their favorite story develop but it never gets as good as they think it could ever be.

It seems that The Art of The Rise of Skywalker book was delayed by a few months. I wonder why.

Now we have the "release the JJ cut" movement sparked by this reddit thread:

I've read that too. I don't buy it for a minute. What gives the person who posted this credibility? Has he posted inside stuff in the past that became factually true? The fact that none of the top comments question this guy's claims smells suspect to me. This is good fan fiction until proven other wise.

I agree. I take what comes off of reddit from someone who heard something from a friend who works some where I can't mention (even though it isnt himself) with a fine grain of sand. Especially when it a lot centers around specific issues/suggestions that have come from fans, like needing to be longer or two movies (which I certainly wouldn't have minded) .... just seems suspicious to novice ear

Also the fact this came from the r/saltierthancrait subreddit page is also a red flag. It's a known TLJ/Disney hater subreddit. If this was posted from someone who claims that they "worked" for Lucasfilm or Disney and was posted on the Star Wars leaks page, then the post may have some merit but it's not.

Interesting read with some valid points. I think this is why from the movie standpoint moving away from a timeline we are familiar with and creating new characters with no connection to the ones we first grew to love will be good for the franchise.

Maryann Brandon, co-editor of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker:: “[Star Wars: The Last Jedi] was just a different take on the Star Wars saga. And to Rian [Johnson]’s credit, he stuck to what he wanted to do, and he wanted to deconstruct the film and open it up to go a different direction. That is the film he made. I know it is controversial, but isn’t that kind of good in a way?” “That’s why I feel very much in hindsight that the trilogy, the last part of the trilogy, needed one vision.” (April 7, 2020) (archive)

Mary Jo Markey, co-editor of Star Wars: The Force Awakens: “I couldn’t agree more [with Maryann Brandon's sentiment]. It’s very strange to have the second film so consciously undo the storytelling of the first one. I’m sorry that’s what it felt like.” “I don’t even feel that’s true about the third film. It took where the second film ended and just tried to tell a story. I didn’t feel like it was consciously—it just didn’t feel that way to me.” (April 7, 2020)

Matt Smith: "Yes [I was going to be in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker]. No [I didn't shoot any scenes for it]. I didn't, I didn't. There was...we were close to me being in it...then it just never quite happened. I think the thing they were thinking of me for - eventually the part became obsolete and they didn't need it and so <broad gestures> I never got to be in Star Wars. There we are." "I could not possibly say [what my exact role was publicly to you]. I could not possibly say [that], but it was a pretty groovy thing like it was a really groovy concept. It was a big thing! Yeah, like it was a big story detail. Like a transformative Star Wars story detail but it never quite got over the line <smiles>." "I mean it was like a big <shift hand gesture> shift in <gestures> the history of the franchise. Yeah. There we are!" "There was no costume [test]. There were a couple of meetings [to] talk about it." "Maybe I can come back [to Star Wars], you never know." (November 3, 2021) (archive)

Who is Palpatines apprentice? Not Snoke. He was not Sith. Always 2.
