Yeah I'm certain there will be a rancor. Evidently the one in Bad Batch is not the one seen in ROTJ.
I don't think they would make that distinction without there being a purpose.

 

Yeah i saw the concept art for that. At first I thought it was a stretch, but it would be pretty badass. On the subject of rancors, i think collectors are going to regret not backing the haslab rancor, because of this.

 

They must add Ola, then I might consider it... still waiting for my Razor Crest though.

 

I backed the crest, because I'm a 3.75 guy, that being said I didn't back the Rancor. The 3.75 TBS one came out right as I was getting back into collecting, and I passed, but now I regret it.

We'll see when the Rancor appears in TBOBF how people react. Hasbro can't say, hey the Rancor is going to be in the boba fett show, so like, you should probably get it.

 

I'm holding out for Haslab Jawa Sand-crawler. I'm a big fan of the Jawas but I don't think the Jawas are that popular, still hoping it will be the next project.

 

Yeah a sandcrawler would be great! The disney one is cool, but underscaled and the paint job was horrid. Great features though. But a haslab one would be leaps and bounds better.

 

yeah, its on eBay for way too much money... I might get the lego version.

 

I didn't get it because I don't have enough jawas or droids. Jawas are like potato chips, you can't just have one, the way I am id go on ebay and army build them, and jawas are crazy expensive too. Now you only get one on card instead of two or one with a droid. I regret not getting that too. But hoping for haslab.

Especially with sandcrawler being in mandalorian, and possibly TBOBF or Obi wan.

We are mere days away from the start of the series -- and the trailer and TV spots are all scenes from the FIRST HALF of the FIRST episode??? What does THAT tell you??!?

I know what it says to me: Favreau and Company are SO confident in what they've got in store that they don't want to spoil ANYTHING. Think about Season 2 of The Mandalorian. If they wanted to jack the fans' excitement, there were all kinds of scenes they could have put in the Season 2 trailer. Instead they limited it to the first 4 episodes. Now, with the BOBF, they've tightened things further.

I predict this series is going to blow fans away the same way Mando 2 did.

 

OK, so episode 1...

It was OK, it was fun. Did it grab me like Mando did? Not at all. But then, I also am not a fan of Robert Rodriguez's directing style. I wasn't impressed by the score, honestly--sure, it used Goransson's themes but to my mind it was clearly not his composition--all about the action and not much about what is going on with the character internally. (Maybe it was composed to complement the directing style.) I also thought the nighttime desert settings were kind of bad visually.

I was annoyed that Boba asked the Rodian if he wanted his bonds cut. I want what I think of as a change in his MO from the OT to be really earned, and though I saw a lot of suffering from Boba, I didn't see why he would suddenly change into a selfless guy at that point.

So about the direction/plot of the series as a whole... Boba is taking over Jabba's crime empire and trying to hold it together with "respect," not fear. (Good luck with that.) Is the whole series going to be about him on Tatooine fighting minor gangsters, or will this lead Boba and right-hand woman Shand further out into the GFFA? We did see some hints of the latter in the trailers so here's hoping. I am confused about the gambling den, though... Is that connected with the mayor of Mos Espa who wouldn't pay tribute? Is the Jennifer Beals Twi'lek the mayor, the proprietor of the casino, the maitre d', or some combination of these?

All that said, it was a romp in the GFFA and that beats most other TV stuff out there hands down.

No spoilers here.
Overall, some good moments, others more weak.
My biggest fear was RR direction. Could have been worse. Not that bad. There are a couple of worst aspects (very personal) than direction.

I guess we will have to create official episode threads to talk about more of the details with possible spoilers.
