If this is actually legitimate, thank the good lord that Disney decided to scrap Lucas' treatments and go in another direction.

    I doubt that is genuine.
The prose is laughable stylistically ( I know I know, but bounds of reason ).

I suspect and hope that it is not real. It is absolutely awful.

Here is the Clip and our few thoughts. Not the best word choice but it is a live interview (well, recorded in front of a camera on a sound stage) and he is trying to get his point across. I don't think it was meant to come off as badly as the press is making it out to be. But I don't think it was also a great choice of words.
I still highly respect the man. After all, he is the Father of Star Wars.

He could have used a better choice of words for sure. Like I say in the video, I am a bit surprised that in editing the quote was left in as this was not recorded live on air. Rose has edited interviews in the past to make his guest come off a bit better. He is a very good reporter but he does help those who come on his show. But this was left in. At the request of Lucas? Now that's a story worth investigating!

Because he was the chosen one. He was Jesus and one of a kind, well used to be. All 6 movies revolve around him. Now Disney has created another Jesus. Why? Cuz girl power that's why. It totally diminishes Anakin and how truly special he was, being created by the force itself.

I'm sure he saw what they did with Finn and it left a bad taste in his mouth. You don't go from making Red Tails to watching a franchise you created use a black man as a side kick and misdirection. Something you spent the last decade trying to fight. The horrible portrayal of black people in movies. I believe his wife lit a fire under his ass after watching Finn being used for cannon fodder.

Not even all the movies that are said to revolve around him revolve around him (TPM doesn't ).
    Let alone the OT.
The claim that the Star Wars saga is all about Anakin Skywalker is exactly as old as the inception of the prequels ( maybe younger ) and Lucas has been claiming it was always by "grand design" since.
Oh wait, actually he stopped claiming it once Disney didn't adhere to his "original vision" for the ST.
Now it's back to "it's about the Skywalker family".

He also once remarked ( without irony ) that R2-D2 is the true, secret hero of the saga by the way. Not sure why *that* isn't making the rounds.

I'm sure he was joking. Anakin was written as Jesus born of the force and a virgin mom. There was a reason for him being OP. I'm not going to argue with the guy that created it. Also I'm sure he had 4 billion reasons to go along with Disney. But it looks like Lucas got tired of holding his tongue.

Dude, George was talking about Academy Awards type films that people don't go to see that he wants more to make. You never in your life been to an ART FILM? Before George made Stare Wars he was more like into experimental films.(falcon)

George Lucas is a strange guy. I've seen a lot of interviews and featurettes and sometimes it is almost as if he doesn't like what he has done. Like he wanted SW to be an indie experimental film that only a few would love.

He probably feels like he had something he thought he didn't want and now he gave it and he regrets it and wants it back. Childish behaviour. If I don't have it, noone will... Or in that case, he is in denial because they did something better than his prequels.

Well my view on that it that since he took the decision to sell the franchise, his opinion is no longer credible. George, If you wanted to get involved and do your thing, you could insist on such a clause when signing the contracts. If they denied, the deal would collapse. But, no, you took the 4 billion and now you do what? Cry and whine like a baby?

I even got pissed that he went to the world premiere with a random jacket and a 10 bucks wallmart sweater like he was going to the grocery store or the butcher. It is like he wanted to downgrade the whole event... And don't say that he always dresses like that, I have seen him in various award events (that he is supposed to hate) with tuxedos etc.

Get over it GL and please support the whole thing because so far they are treating it with the respect it deserves...

I started reading the first one, and as soon as I saw "Academy" and "Dark Jedi with jetpacks, I realised that these were the SuperShadow Sequel plot synopses.
The site even has the same Midichlorian count list that was on SuperShadow's site.

    Whatever happened to SuperShadow?

Here's the archive if you aren't convinced:

    http://web.archive.org/web/20080221145213/http://www.supershadow.com/starwars/episode7/plot.html

The real funny thing about all of this interview:

George Lucas is the 2nd largest individual shareholder in Disney after the estate of Steve Jobs.
Lucas received $2 Billion in shares when he sold Lucasfilm. Since he sold it, his share's have doubled in value.

I think he is regretting selling now. He's behaving a bit like a jilted boy/girlfriend. He doesn't really have any reason to be prissy, you sold out for the money, George.

He IS talking about art films.
But you and i will never ever get to see them.
He says, and i quote "i will be directing movies, but not movies that will be shown anywhere."
He said, in an earlier interview, that no one will be able to watch his new movies.
It's typical passive aggressive stuff. We didn't like his last experiments, therefore we aren't good enough to see his new stuff. And, he doesn't want to experience the feeling of failure again.

In reality one experimental film & a bunch of student projects.

    What a shame!

Just the whole idea in and of itself is sooooo pretentious... "oh, if I make experimental films no one will get it/ enjoy it" (same excuse he used against fans who didn't *get* the PT.)

I went to see "the look of silence" in August, certainly an experimental film that generated mediocre buzz & profits. Yet the director is gracious. None of this "hollywood doesn't like my art" bull s***.

You know what? I agree now... what he said about TFA sucking cuz it's going retro? As if to say he wasn't trying to go retro with the OT?

*cough* Flash Gordon & hidden fortress & Errol Flynn *cough*

I just need to stop paying attention because the more I think about the interview the more obnoxious George becomes... probably not worth my time.

Its kinda of dismissive to claim he's losing his mind when he clearly and coherently expressing his opinion for an hour. "You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain." Don't get me wrong it was borderline offensive but I'm not going to say he's crazy or showing signs of early Alzheimer because I no longer see my hero. People age, grow-- their opinion change....thats life.

If some one is seeing TFA today, would you PLEASE do me this favor: stay and watch the last of the credits. I remember the last line of credits stating something like"George Lucas owns all this property the moment it's created" or something along those lines. If THATS true, this makes even less sense.

Right. His character of Luke Skywalker blowing up the Death Star without a targeting computer or any experience flying an X-Wing and without any training in the force is so much more compelling and believable.

    Keep parroting those original thoughts.

And for crap's sake, that Solo kid was pouring blood and emotionally wrecked even before he started fighting Rey. Pretty difficult to concentrate and master the force when that stuff is happening to you.

Hey George, remember in 2005 when you said this:

Anyone still want to pretend he had this amazing, long-standing vision for a sequel trilogy?

It gets even worse... He might be responsible for history's first double contradiction... as the ST & Luke's story continued on in the 80's outlines. Then he goes on to say that the story ended with Vader's redemption. Then he says... oh wait... there is a sequel. But this time it's about teenagers.
