During a press event for Steven Spielberg's upcoming film "The BFG", when a reporter suggested that Lucas, having sold Lucasfilm and retired from Star Wars would not return to play a part in Indiana Jones 5 production, he was immediately shot down by Spielberg. “I would never make an ‘Indiana Jones’ film without George Lucas” he said. “That would be insane.” “George is going to be an executive producer on it with me.” He then went on to assure Indiana Jones fans that “George will be inputted on it”.

    Good. I love George.

There are those who despised the Alien angle in Crystal skull. I wasn't one of those people.

The flaws of Crystal skull, to me, were as much down to latter day Spielberg choices and style as anything Lucas brought to the table.

I'm thrilled. I wish Lucas would work on those smaller scale sci fi films he's alluded to over the years.

IMO the flaws came from Spielberg unwilling to tell George Lucas no, because he was so swept up with the idea of being involved in another Indiana Jones film. Also, the fact that production on the film had been troubled for four years contributed to its overall quality.

Well actually it's the dialogue that sucked for me and the mutt WiLLIAMS monkey scene...The crystal skulls were actually a recycled idea from the production of the young indy chronicles

First, I feel like the film should have been about the Spear of Destiny, as the Raiders of the Lost Ark and Last Crusade dealt with religious historical items that the Nazis were seeking to use to further their cause, and part 4 should have carried on this theme. Shia was the weak link, no question. They needed an actor who could carry on the Fedora, and hold his own without Harrison stealing each scene, if that is possible. I also think this could have been done with a daughter, for instance if Anna Kendrick was his daughter named Indy. Then we could have had a female lead in the new films, without comparing too much with Ford.

I like the daughter idea, however I felt that the script was the main reason for Shia's underwhelming performance. There didn't really seem to be any character motivation and evolution throughout the whole film. He was just like I need to save my mum... ...oh, did I mention I can fence?

Frankly, I liked "KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULLS" better than I did "LAST CRUSADE". I thought "CRYSTAL SKULLS" was a more original story and adhered to the movie's time period. The movie was set in 1957 and is obviously a take on the "B" movies of that period - the 1950s. I'm still amazed that after 8 years, a lot of people do not understand that. They could never understood that the aliens, the Soviets, nuclear testing, psychic abilities were all tropes used in many of Hollywood's B movies from the 1950s.

More Lucas bashing . . . only a backhanded kind. Sometimes, I do find this kind of behavior is getting a bit ridiculous. I'm amazed that a lot of people would rather blame Lucas, instead of both men for why they disliked "CRYSTAL SKULLS". This has never made any sense to me.

Georgie Porgie, Puddin' and Pie, kissed Koepp and made him cry. When Spielberg came out to play, Georgie Porgie said it's okay.

Depending on how involved he is, it may be good for his health as well. Old George looks way slimmer than Old Man George, lol.

I'm sure he will be an executive producer/"story by"/co-writer credits if anything.

First, regarding the 50s thing- i don't think i ever consciously thought of it that way and that's a really cool observation.

Second, yes. I agree. I don't think Lucas is without flaw but I'm glad at least some of us still have his back.

I'm hoping they'll still do an Indiana Jones movie complete with Nazis — you can't have an Indiana Jones movie without Nazis as the bad guys! They could easily match it up with Harrison Ford's age if they set it in a South American jungle decades after World War II ended. then Indy could stumble across a village of Nazis who fled there to hide after the war... throw in some stuff about the Aztecs or Mayans and it could be good. maybe the Nazis could all be a bit younger than expected because they've found a fountain of youth or something. He met Hitler in that first movie, so maybe he could meet him all over again, hiding out in South America as a hundred year old bloke. Then Indy could nick his fountain of youth elixir, or whatever it is, and ride off into the sunset.
