Since apparently Gugu Mbatha-Raw is (sadly) out of the running, I thought it'd be nice to create threads for other possibly candidates for Ep. VIII female roles. So here's one! Assuming Gina Rodriguez is cast in Episode VIII, what do you think her role might be?

We don't exactly know who is or isn't in the running? We're going by rumors, nothing conformed from TPTB. We don't even know if there will be just one or two new main female characters.

I would like to see her as an ex-New Republic combatant who joins the Resistance after the destruction of the New Republic.
