Amazing clip, I love it. And don't even mind there's just 30-ish seconds of TRoS footage - still better than a BTS reel. The shots, the music - chills!

I'm so mad, though, that they didn't release it on Saturday and ruined that dark Rey surprise. Just imagine getting this reveal on top of the rest of the clip... I know it's probably nothing major in the movie itself, but still...

 

You mean, the Sith Fleet answers the distress call from Crait at the end of TLJ?

 

Is that montage at the beginning new music? Also Rey's theme can be heard at the end where Celebration it was Kylo's theme.

 

So the fleeting scene in the woods where Rey throws her lightsaber. Do you suppose it is training? I ask because there is one of the training drones appears to be he target when she throws the lightsaber. So could this be early in the film and also be when Luke says she has all the knowledge from 1000 generations.

Or Ezra Bridger shows up to fight the First Order with old Imperial tech.

 

Thought was that the Rebellion captured the remains of the Imperial Fleet after the battle of Jakku. They are mothballed somewhere and the Resistance recommisions them. Just a thought.

Love it, just makes think “I want more!”...

The fact they put prequel footage in, and the footage they used, makes me very happy too. They should not be afraid of leaning on the entire saga to finish it up, and my dearest wish for fandom is that this movie helps win back some people who disliked any of the prequels or sequels.

I don’t really know what I think about Rey... I guess maybe she gets possessed by Palpatine? But that might just be what they want us to think. Or she could be a clone. Or a cyborg? Lol. The lightsaber is interesting - that it turns into a staff, which we know Rey had when we met her in TFA... also the dual-blade mode perhaps suggestive of split personality/possession being overtaken into one (is she is possessed...). The design of it looks quite sleek to me too, like Palpatine’s saber in ROTS. All total speculation.

Also I love how they’ve chosen the scenes they did to compare and lead us (up the garden path?!) to certain comparisons which may or may not be accurate for the movie.

From a technical point of view it looks really really nice. I always thought the technology and filmmaking had a certain step up in the third movies of the previous respective trilogies - Return/Revenge, and I hope we see that similar step up for this one.

I wonder where in the movie we’ll get battle scenes involving all the Star Destroyers because ROTJ had the Battle of Endor at the end, ROTS has the Battle over Coruscant at the beginning... I feel like the middle could be right for this one.

Great to see Leia again, I’m so excited to see how they’ve used the footage they have.

I needs more Artoo though. If he doesn’t survive the movie I’ll be miffed.

It is very likely from early in RoS. JJ let it slip on the pannel at Comic Con that the below, forested image is from the "very beginning of the film".

 

According to the Aftermath series, a few escaped to the UR with Rae Sloane, IIRC. There was supposed to be a rendezvous of some kind there with whatever ships could make it. It was part of the contingency plan, with those creepy Palpatinelike sentinel droids riding shotgun.

 

A manifestation of Rey having a Lightsaber Pike - albeit a Dark Side version - is the latest indicator that JJ is relying on pretty much all of Star Wars - including "ancillary" material like the TV series - to tell this story.

 

It doesn't look like a larger ship to me, it's either the Falcon or some other similar Corellian freighter.

 

I’m calling it now.

Dark Rey is palpatine using Rey’s body and he/she will face off against Luke and Anakin in some shape or form.

Hence the double bladed saber, she’ll be against two people - Luke and Anakin.

 

That would confirm that the Resistance have large quantities of red paint to add red detail lines to a fleet of old mothballed Star Destroyers.

 

The simples explanation, IMHO, for the Dark Rey thing is that this is a force trial/Dark Side prediction where Rey faces a possible future version of herself should she thread wrongly, akin to Luke's failure in the Dagobah cave.

 

My theory:

I think the sith fleet wipes out the FO with ease (pandoras box)

and it's the resistance/kylo/rey vs sith fleet/knights of ren/emperor with the resistance being massive underdogs after seeing the mighty FO get wiped out

JJ will need to demonstrate the threat the sith fleet poses to the galaxy and I think this could be how he does it

 

I don't want to sound like a Debbie Downer because I really really wanted to like this stuff but some of my biggest fears that I have for this movie seem to be coming true.

I just did not like any of the stuff besides the old montage

 

I still think Anakin makes an appearance but I think it would be Luke and Ben fighting Dark Rey

Anakin would surprise the crap out of me though so I'm open to it

 

It will be interesting to see what happens when this fleet comes into play. This is pure speculation on my part but Kyle Ren is the most likely candidate to release the sith army. When he realizes it was bait for Palpatine, he may get betrayed by palpatine

possible but doesn’t match with where our heroes left off at the end of TLJ. To all of a sudden have enough resistance to crew all of those ships seems unlikely.
