Just finished reading the first issue and I must say it continues the trend of Marvel's unimpressive SW comics with boring story, dialogues that don't represent the characters I came to love in the films. and barely competent artwork.

Aside from the awesome Kanan mini series Marvel's Han falls short in the most important aspect, the hero's characterization. The very first act he does in the first few pages is... run.The bad-ass, trash talking gunslinger who chased a dozen troopers down the Death star halls is nowhere to be seen. His interaction with Leia also felt forced. I didn't believe for a second in her motivations. The very least this issue does is present us with a "bare bones conflict".

The artwork, once again, while not horrible, falls in line with the routine "realistic" approach Marvel opted out with in the other titles. It's crisp, flat, and very boring to look at. At times it feels like the Falcon itself is traced lines over a 3D still model dropped in the middle of a comic book panel. Even worse, Han's face alternates from drawing to drawing and it's hard to figure out where the artist was going with it, trying to portray H.Ford or his own version of the hero?

    Overall this gets 05/10.

I'm really hoping Marvel can pull their blast together and come up with a great book the series deserves.

Actually, I did not mind the story so far. It is still all set up. I think it is too early to write off the series. Let's see what the next issues will bring.

I hope you're right friend. But isn't the first issue essential in setting up an interesting premise and hooking the reader into the story. I didn't get any of that.

I have actually noticed the artwork varying and while it annoys me it's obviously simply due to creative interpretation between the different artists.
