For me, part of the enduring appeal of the original trilogy of movies is that - even now, after 40 years and counting - I can still stumble across a new (old) image I have never seen before, or encounter a different take on some aspect of the saga I always took for granted that changes my perspective in some way.

So, apologies if this is slightly self indulgent - I may be talking about something you figured out years ago, or that never even struck you as odd or out of place - but...

... That vintage Han Solo (Bespin Outfit) figure. It was always one of my favourites - my go-to representation of Solo from the movies in toy form, if you will.
But I never really gave the name too much thought. It's Han, right? Wearing his outfit from the final act of the movie, when he's on Bespin - or Cloud City, at least. Makes sense.

So, the picture on the cardback. I must have seen that image thousands of times over the years, not least because I hung on to as many of my cardbacks as I could, and his was one of the survivors... but without ever really giving much thought to where this image actually fits in with the TESB timeframe .

It's just Han, in a doorway... it must be on the Falcon - probably around the time he and Leia kiss in the repair bay, right? That's what I'd always kind of just presumed.

Again - apologies if this is something that you figured out decades ago - but I only just recently realised I didn't actually know where in the movie that shot was from.

As a result, I must have spent the best part of a day scratching my head trying to work out which part of the Falcon matched that set, or which scene on Bespin that still might have been taken from...
... Before I eventually realised the name given to that particular toy had convinced me that this costume was somehow tied to Bespin and the final act of the movie.

And it just isn't at all.
Han is wearing that outfit less than five minutes into the movie, and the photo is most likely taken from the command centre set on Hoth.

I can't believe I misunderstood that photo for so long!

Anyone else got any similar experiences - any old images that baffled or intrigued them back in the day, or maybe a scene or piece of dialogue you may have actually misheard or misinterpreted for years?

Off topic, kinda: I JUST watched a snippet of R1 and noticed a dude yell "Karabast!!" when the walkers show up. Nice touch Gareth Edwards.....or not.

Han had this blue jacket outfit in a few scenes. The asteroid belt, Besoin, Both.
I liked it more than the black vest. His stupid "camo" duster that he loses in 2min is one of the worst Star Wars costumes ever.
BTW, funny modern Star Wars fact: the navy blue winter jacket worn by Captain Caspian in Rogue One is a shout-out to Kenner/Star Wars fans.
When Kenner designers saw set pics & costume photos from Lucasfilm they incorrectly thought Solo wore a blue coat on Hoth & his blue jacket was the same costume. So they made the Han Solo Hoth figure with the blue jacket color too. In the film, Ford wears a black type parka.

The actual parka worn by Harrison is a lot lighter in real life, kind of a deep beige/brown.

Some of the later figures adopted this colour, and I always thought it just looked odd, because on film it always looked a lot darker - to my eyes at least a really deep blue or, as you say, almost black.

I have always had a similar issue with Jabba. In all of his scenes in ROTJ, and even in most stills from on set, he always struck me as being a shade of orange/tan with kind of burnt grey markings. I was always surprised to see how, elsewhere, he was represented in much brighter shades of yellow and green - the toy, and how he appeared in TPM for example - until I saw images of the actual puppet, off-set, and realised it he'd always been that colour.
I've often wondered why they would choose to reference what the props looked like in real life in these situations rather than how they appeared onscreen, because I'd probably always go with the latter.

Rumors & soc media, 08/2018 posts say the Hutt clan will return in Ep 09.
To my knowledge, Hutts can be different colors or shades also different sizes.
Age, sex, health-wellness etc can be factors too.
