I used to like Star Wars Theory, but his videos became very repetitive and clickbait-y. Star Wars Explained is the only Star Wars channel I really watch anymore. I 100% agree with Alex, as this whole situation really irks me. Unfortunetly, this situation is a good representation of a good chunk of the Star Wars community, at least online: not doing research and jumping to conclusions, blaming Disney for everything, etc.

The examples Alex brought up were extreme, for sure, but it's not like everybody concerned was like this. Some people linked it with the gun controversy, because that's the current climate and expressed that if that's the reason for censorship, then it's an overreaction. Nobody knew you can't put guns on posters in Brazil (I haven't seen anybody rush with an explanation as soon as this became a topic). It's hard to expect the general public to be familiar with foreign law. Now that everything is clear, some people are being smartasses shaming those who voiced some critical thoughts and I think that's unfair. Sure, it was based on lack of information, but let's cut some slack, because again - Brazilian law is not common knowledge.

    1. The posters aren't for the US-market, so what the Blast are you Americans bitching about.
    2. The posters are for 2 different countries.

Why does one country doesn't have guns on his posters. Because in some countries, they don't like that blast.

Just like in the US, you won't see a woman's nipple on ABC / NBC / ... or like they will beep-out curse words. Here in Belgium on the other hand, we curse like hell on tv and in every televisionserie, we see at least 1 pair of nipples.

To play devil's advocate - it wouldn't be that crazy to interpret this as new, updated versions of the posters issued by Disney (I mean the top) with intention to replace them on a wider scale. Yes, they featured Spanish/Brazilian text, but we didn't know the artwork is exclusive for Brazil. Plus, I don't think these posters were officially revealed. It seems like they introduced them quietly after the plagiarism controversy, so there wasn't any emphasis on which are the official US and international designs.

I don't want to further the argument, I'm just saying the uproar had at least some ground to it. ;)

Oke, i didn't think of the plagiarism controversy, so yeah, it has some ground to it. On the other hand, it's common knowledge that a ton of studios use different artwork for different regions and/or countries in the marketing of a movie. They even change the names of a movie for some countries/region (example: POTC 5 got internationally released as Salazar's Revenge, in the US as Dead men tell no tales (a far better title btw), Moana got released in Europe as Vaiana (and in Italy as Ociania), ...).

So what you guys are saying is you expect me to read *all* the posts in a thread before replying?? =P jk

SORRY about that!!!! I should have read those last few posts before I made mine.

I guess in my defense I would say, "can you blame me/us for getting it wrong?" Disney/Marvel/SW have done some pretty lame things in the name of their image over the last few years. It's sort of like The Boy Who Cried Wolf - maybe if they hadn't done so many similar things over the last few years I (and many others) would have been less likely to misjudge them here.

Again, my apologies. That was dumb of me! Thanks, everyone, for being polite about correcting me.

He's alright but leans pro Disney. Alex though is not as bad as HelloGreedo or Star Wars Coffee. They're 100% Pro Disney. That is Disney does no wrong in thier eyes.

I haven't seen those other channels, but yea, Alex's knowledge is incredible, but his devotion to Disney actually made me unsubscribe not long ago. It's like even when he had issues with TLJ, he stopped himself from saying them and I don't know why. I know Disney doesn't pay him, but I guess he just wants to stay in their good graces? Also, I don't like how much credit he gave to Geek Girl Diva recently. She cares 1000x more about Donald Trump than she does about Star Wars, so I don't really know why anyone should care about her opinion on the franchise. (I'm also not really sure how she got her job, but, that's another discussion.)

Han Solo and his blaster are like two halves of a whole. Without a blaster he's just another run of the mill scruffy-looking nerfherder. ;)

Ok, ok everyone. Remain calm. Im told that theses r the Brazilian posters because it's illegal in showing "firearms" in public in ads.

Someone should tel the Brazilian gov't that these are fictitious weapons.

How is this thread only two pages long, but the Brazil explanation has already had to have been reiterated three separate times?

Do people not realize that its star WARS and not star PEACE? lol. Han always seems to get in some sort of trouble that requires a good blaster by his side and it would be weird for people in that country will see this but then watch the movie and think ""

Not as far as I know. It's just, people need to read and stop being so reactionary. :)

To be fair, most movie prop blasters are modified replicas of some obscure historical firearm. :)
