    Hello,
First of all a thank you to all those who read my Harry Potter and the Cursed Child breakdown/review post I made back in July. So as promised here is the review for the film, the script book has not yet arrived but when it does this post will be updated with it.

Spoilers will be added soon, this will be non-spoiler.

I have been looking forward to this ever since it was announced, returning to the Harry Potter Universe in film after so many years was a happy moment for me.
I didn't enjoy this film as much as I hoped, but I still really liked it.
Eddie Redmayne playing Newt Scamander grew on me throughout the film, as at the beginning it just felt odd.
Great performances by all the people involved. I did have a couple of annoyances with one of the characters. They did better themselves as time went on.
Seeing the beasts come to life was a brilliant moment to see after reading about them in writing. I did read that people didn't really like the CGI of the beasts but on the big screen they looked awesome. I loved the fact that when one of the animals were stroked the feathers moved with the person's hand. The characters reactions were great as well.
How the story linked into the Grindelwald storyline was well done and it didn't feel forced.
There were some references to the Harry Potter films (list coming soon).

More is going to be added to the non-spoiler in a few hours and then after that the spoilers.

If you did happen to watch the film, I don't need to ask but could you please include spoiler tags.
Thank you for reading. I'm looking forward to talking about the film with you.

I got back from the film not that long ago, and I have to say that I quite liked it. It felt a little odd in places, but I do think that it's a story worth telling, and am pleased to hear that they have plans to fully commit to a franchise.

I strongly disagree with you on this point, though I do think that there were some wonky moments in the film's execution. I feel as though the movie is a worthy successor to the Harry Potter series, and I hope that the sequels all outclass this good-if-a-bit-clunky launch. (Young Dumbledore hype up in this b*tch!)

taste is just different and except a few moments this movie didn't do much for me. I'm not a Harry Potter die hard fan, but enjoyed most of the Harry Potter series so far. Maybe 'Fantastic Beasts 2' will be better for my taste. ;)

I'm pleased they are turning it into a franchise as well. It's exciting that we are going to see the battle between Dumbledore and Grindelwald.

I disagree with some of your points but overall I think we came out with the same general feelings. One thing I really didn't care for was the lack of time WITH the beasts considering that the human characters never grew on me like I had hoped.

The reveal at the irked me just because of who won't be in the second unless there's some polyjuice potion involved.

I really like the casting of Jude Law as dumbledore in Fantastic Beasts 2, but it would have been nice if they went with Jared Harris (the son of the original Dumbledore-actor).

I'm just not a fan of the title of the movie (The Crimes of Grindelwald). It sounds like a titel of some fan-fiction.

I couldn't care less about the Fantastic Beasts series. The first movie initially felt more like a presentation of the American wizard society, without any clear plot or structure to make you feel that you're watching an exciting and original film. Then when the actual plot finally kicks off in the third act, you feel like "Well then what's the point of the first and second act?". The movie title is "Fantastic Beasts" for god sake, but when the movie is done it turns out the fantastic beasts in Newt's suitcase was just a side plot of the actual main plot - Grindelwald.

And now it turns out the second movie is going to be entirely about the crimes of Grindelwald, so to speak. What was the point of the first movie then? What's the point of even calling it "Fantastic Beasts"? What's even more worrisome is the fact that they're planning to have each film take place in a different city. Talk about inconsistency.

They should've just made Dumbledore the main character and Grindelwald the main antagonist from the very beginning, and naming the series "Wizard War" or something.

Man, I actually fell asleep during the first movie, but this one looks kinda cool.

I don't love what they're doing with the series, but it's really cool that they're trying to do something unique and not just ride on Harry Potter's coattails, showcasing another generation at Hogwarts. Definitely gives more dimension to the universe they're trying to create.

Is that GROOT's cousin at 1:20? Potter is good, like with everything you expand on the original idea and you have a chance to stray from canon. It causes same fans to go nuts. I will watch it understanding it is just a little different. It will be better the Willy Wonka remake!!! Sorry saw Johnny Depp in the trailer.

Indeed, although i would have preferred the casting of Jared Harris, since he looks very familiar to his father (who played the role in the first 2 Potter movies) and he is also a great actor.

But, maybe i change my mind after i've seen him in the movie.

So... Is Newt still main character in this one? Or is Dumbledore the main character? Because it seems as if Newt is going to be sort of like Dumbledore's side-kick in this film. But still Newt is the main character. A side-kick as the main character? I just don't get it. This series is a mess for me so far.

There is a new trailer, that was released at SDCC.

Also, Johnny Depp made a surprise appearance at SDCC as Grindelwald.
